Really, let's see a public statement from LE where he makes a commitment to customers
Stop the non sense #FakeNews people. Solaris is not dead, simply changing version number methodology.
Solaris and SPARC are NOT dead. Oracle is investing lots into R&D and we continue with a full roadmap for our customers. The rumormongering on here is frankly outrageous.

You are right. Some are even still in denial!!
Solaris 12 will be released but will be called Solaris 11.4. Its that simple.
B.U.L.L.S.H.E.E.T.
Solaris is now officially in maintenance bug-fixing mode only. A.k.a. Dead. That is what this new and updated roadmap shows.
Solaris and Sparc are dead. Linux, Intel, and Cloud killed it.
So they rename Solaris 12, Solaris 11.Next... why all the doom and gloom. Solaris has not been the primary OS for most folks in a long time. I only see it on large systems, and system that must be secure.
Solaris 12 will be released but will be called Solaris 11.4. Its that simple. Changing the version to 12 would require all ISV's and customer to do quite a bit of validation & certification which in todays world is too costly and time consuming. As Solaris continues to maintain 100% binary compatibility, there really is no reason to change to version Solaris 12. Solaris is now in Oracle Cloud offered on x86 and SPARC. Fujitsu will be introducing new SPARC systems this year as well running on Solaris.
we received an email that solaris would be switching from "number releases" to "dot releases" so as to "not confuse our customers"
it sounds like we are switching to support mode. the question will be if they need a full crew to run a skeleton operation
It's business. I don't guess they have much business in the forecast.
No solaris 12 in that roadmap. Very surprised the Oracle machine confirmed that!.!.!
