Sells off 20 states of Verizon fiber betting on the "wireless" 5G. Now that 5G is years away, and not even proven yet in the lab. He's back to the tried and true.
Again people will except hit or miss service on their mobile devices while out and about......But they want %100 percent uninterrupted super fast clear service in their homes.
Only landline fiber can and will provide that service.
Massive debt. Only a group of morons would finance this! FIOS is a superior product to csble. 5G could replace the copper plant of COAX, but the roll out of the 5G ONTs would eat into margins.
...man the life rafts!
"They need it for 5G," says another, looking to wireless firms' ambitions to provide a phone/TV/data alternative to major MSOs."
Really? I thought wireless didn't need cable/wireline. I guess the wireless people at Verizon just don't really know how their product works after all.......
"McAdam is said to be obsessed with distribution, and cable may provide a better route than the FiOS network it largely sold off to Frontier Communications."
Oreally??
Yeah big red can't swing those kind of $$$ with all the debt and dividend obligations.
On the other hand, could Comcrap but Verizon? Seems more likely, but still a long shot.
McDumbass has to do something the ship is taking on water fast!
Gotta find a way to refinance that debt somehow... http://www.verizon.com/about/investors/schedule-outstanding-debt
