The post stating that layoffs hit the older employees hardest was largely correct. Older employees and blacks were disproportionately let go in all the layoffs. I would imagine someone filed a lawsuit which, if it happened, will come out sooner or later.

LOL this is such an HR posted question with the signature "GO.." finish. Looks like you're not quite getting the responses you hoped.

Man, is that ever true. Layoffs disproportionately hit the old-school oil finders and many UnCool, unconnected young petrotechs while leaving untouched the politically astute lower and middle managers, many in their 30s, who have/had never found hydrocarbons but who were still highly visible corporate clones and head-nodders. Also untouched were most of the attractive young female geos and engineers. Most of those who think their retention had to do with accomplishment or degree of actual contribution to the corporation should examine their self-perceptions.

Forced rankings are not based on performance. They are based on popularity and which clique you represent.

You are clearly old marathon which treated you amazing and provided great opportunities. Everyone loved the company back then. Companies change.

New marathon doesn't value people or understand we aren't a major and it shows daily. Forced ranking (which after all that HR talk is still our exxon sized system of competitive backstabbing) is a clear and present example of that.

Lee seems to think that an HR process of forced ranking will transform the company into his premiere dream. Leadership not ranking is what is needed. He and his overpaid leadership team need som enforce ranking from the board. How much time to you think the independent producers of hat are successful spend on force ranking? Goback to XOM Lee and BJ go toHxxx.

If you are half as good as you probably think you are I am sure you will do ok in the forced ranking process.

Marathon didn't GIVE you anything. YOU WORKED for everything you have. Or maybe you didn't.
