Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Getting rid of course materials managers

So did anyone notice that the announcement on the quad regarding the 2017 Summer and Fall adoption campaign was only directed to SMs, RMs, and GVPs. Message is pretty dumbed down for those that have no CM experience. Guess CM's are next on the chopping block

I left to take a job elsewhere and have not regretted it one bit. Life is so much better and they value my experience and contributions daily. I love coming to work each day again. It's just sad what has become of a once great company. I'd suggest getting out if you have the option as Follett isn't coming back from the hole they have dug themselves into, they just don't have enough of a bookstore knowledge level to do so. In fact I'm pretty sure the casket is in the ground and the concrete is dry.

You owe to yourself and to you loved ones to fall into on of two groups; staying because retirement is less than a year off. You know it isn't good, but retiring a year early is worse. The other group must be looking for work. Put your passion into your career, not Follett. Worry about what to wear to an interview, instead of worrying about Follett pulling the rug out from under you. We KNOW follett will yank the rug. It's a matter of when it suits them best.

Everybody complete their code of conduct? I couldn't help chuckling through it, what a joke.

That is a great post below. Follett has caused so much stress and turmoil for its employees speculating about job security.

Sad is that a once great company that used to value each and every associate has digressed to the point where associates are trying to read the tea leaves to figure out what's going to happen next. Living the values!

You realize that fakenews represents claims made by a man who lies about the weather? not a convincing strategy.

Given your fakenews reference, I doubt you came here for real information. You likely came here to convince yourself of your exceptionalism (which, by the way only you see yourself as exceptional). Sorry, no new layoffs. You can't feel exceptional today.

Ignore that man behind the curtain. Those Who Forget History Are Doomed to Repeat It. Look at the history of Follett leadership and its employees.

Unfortunately with dishonest leadership and no transparency into what is really happening, employees do read into every announcement or lack of announcement. Leadership has ruined a once very loyal workforce. Sometimes this speculation is right and other times it is wrong. Sometimes you need to combine it with other facts. It is interesting to note that Follett chose to build a CT Web application (centralized text management) that duplicates the functionality of the existing CT application but does provide the capability for centralized management. Based on continued sales declines, cost cutting is the only way to maintain the bottom line to pay the family their dividend.

Maybe it is hogwash, but maybe not, there are supporting facts. Look at the thousands of employees laid off over the past 5 years and maybe think twice about leadership motives and their lack of transparency.

U know, I used to come to this site for almost-legitatmate news about possible lay offs. Now all I seem to read are posts from the mentally ill. This post takes the cake. Are u really saying that becuz u didn't see a certain group of people addressed in a post that they are getting layed off? Get a life and stop spreading garbage. #fakenews

Pure speculation and fear mongering based on the Communications Department mess up. Sad.

Typical Follett downplaying one of their most important money making assets: Course Materials Managers! 2/16/16 was the big day of layoffs last year if I recall correctly so let's see if Follett keeps it's annual event.
