If you are an Associate Supervisor you might want to consider tuning up your resume. Especially when the now managers become supervisors
Thanks for the clear answer
Essentially anyone supervisor and up should be nervous. They will tell you moving from a people leader to a specialist is a lateral move but it clearly isn't given the previous comments. The good old boys club only got stronger with the reorg. Competence doesn't matter if you aren't in the club.
also, your former supervisors with reports won't have any. All reports will go to the former manager (now supervisor) who will spend all their time on performance with their now hugely unwieldy number of direct reports. Former supervisors will be told "hey don't worry, you can still provide leadership and assistance, only it won't be part of your job description or officially recognised for your resume after we fire you". Flattening carried far more weight than number of reports, but really - what's more important - Al never speaking to 6 layers vs people managing their groups properly and paying attention to the job OR Al never speaking with 5 layers and the supervisors spending 80% of their time on performance?
We used to have Sr VP, VP, Director, Sr Mgr, Mgr, supervisor, etc with number of direct reports varying. Now we have Sr VP, VP, Director, Mgr (no sr mgr), Supervisor, etc. Sr Mgrs were downgraded to Mgr title. If they had a Mgr reporting to them, that person was downgraded (demoted) to a supervisor or specialist title as Mgrs can't report to a Mgr. People leader must have at least 3 direct reports. There are other titles for technical but I don't know all of them.
