Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Lay off in the News

Humana will lay off about 500 employees in Ohio and Florida who work in the insurer's home healthcare division. Employees were notified on Feb. 1, Cincinnati.com reported. The layoffs will take effect April 3.Kate Marx, a Humana spokeswoman, said the layoffs weren't related to the insurer's recently blocked mega-merger with Aetna. Louisville, Ky.-based Humana Wednesday reported significant losses for its fourth quarter of fiscal year 2016. It recorded a loss of $401 million for the quarter, and $614 million in profit for the full year 2016, down from $1.3 billion in 2015. The insurer's Humana at Home unit employs support staff to help customers transition from an inpatient stay to their home. Eighty-eight of the employees laid off are based in Ohio, and the remaining work in Florida.

Yes Humana and integrity have nothing in common any more. At least not the company. Humana associates are incredibly caring, hardworking individualso for the most part. Should have cut MF not the hardworking people that busted their tails every time they were asked. Shame on you BB for letting it come to this. You should have known this wasn't sound business decisions.

All lies. Seems like that's Humanas specialty these days. Lying to members, employees, and media.

Love how the article says MF laid us off and no one in cincinnati was impacted. I'm cincinnati, I was impacted, and MF was not the one on our conference call telling us of our 60 day notice.. the integrity of this company is lacking

What are the CMS regulations for roster size? If that's CMS driven, not Humana driven, that answers a lot of questions

I had not heard CA and WA were being dropped. Why are they wanting the HCM RNs to be licensed in all 50 states then? My suspicion is we will all become autodialers which would eliminate CMS guideline requirements for roster size which are currently unmanageable. No worries about rosters if we are all autodialers, hence the need for 50 licenses.

I suspect there are more than being relayed, plus worry that there will be more layoffs coming, as MF mentioned ominously about the next 60 days... Yes members in California and Washington state were being dropped by Humana so I think like the poster before me said, could be thousands?

Just think, if we had single payer, we could still all work as telephonic care managers and educators etc but it would be under one large umbrella national organization and not a for profit/ loss scheme.

Might want to check other states. I've heard there have been lay offs if several other states like Texas, California and others. Reporters need to do some deeper digging and find the whole story. Could be thousands impacted not just hundreds. Let's find the truth.
