I all seriousness, if we can call it such, I have to figure out what I could about the 5-321 that we got the buttons and the pens for. I have a sears mastercard that I applied for back in late october of 2016 and I have the silver one that you see all of the time. I have heard complaints that some people are not getting their points so I did some business and used my Sears just to see what would happen. Here is the record as follows.
On the Saturday before the Super Bowl I went to Wal-Mart and spent $132 on groceries. I drove my wife's nice car and of course she doesn't put gas in it because she drives the winter van as we call it. I filled that up at Super America for around $27 on Monday. Also on Monday, I ordered her one rose delivered to her place of employ because men are after her skirt. Not because I was jealous be rather because all of the women she works with are jealous of her. She laughed.
In the last two days this is what has happened with my SYW 5321 experiment. I did get 5% in points from the gas purchase. I did get 3% on groceries and I did get 1% for that rose applied today. The points are not instantaneous in case you need to run to Sears right away to look for something to buy. But the points are awarded. Isn't that nice to know?
Here is something else nice to know: Only Sears Mastercards issued at some point in 2016 automatically link to the points system. My card was issued in October 2016 and I can not find information as to a retroactive date prior to that but my card linked up because I try to stay on this issue. Some customers whose cards were issued previously to Oct 2016 may need to call CIti to link the accounts to get their points. Just what everyone wants to do of course.
I am a manager in auto so I don't get the pressure for the PA stuff. I get phone shopped all of the time though which is another issue. I know my stuff about SYW but it takes hours of time and my own money to try to figure it out.
The 5321 is not a good deal for anything other than gas purchases and even then if you believe the points you get back are only redeemable at the Sears/Kmart nearest will be open. AND the APR is 25.74% or something near to that. This card really s---s and there is no good reason to use it unless in a very specific case.
Another concern is that whole 5321 program terminates at the end of 12-17 and then what?
Seriously?
I think Citi must be laughing for underwriting that card for the APR.
