Anyone else from the class of Jan 27 receive a document from Fed Ex this morning, stating that an over payment was made on your final check? Payroll is asking that we agree to the over payment being deducted from our 60 day WARN benefit payment.

They did the same thing to people let go mid October 2016 & end of October. I was one of them that they asked for the money back, they wanted me to send them a certified check. I decided if they hire people that have no clue what they are doing they deserve to be out the money. They have done this a bunch of times over that last 2 years.
I have had no repercussions at this time.
Interesting! I am a member of the esteemed class of Jan. 27, 2017 and my final paycheck was wrong too, but mine was significantly LOWER than it should have been. Was told the only way to contact HPE Payroll was by email, except the emails seemed to go into the twilight zone because I never received a reply. Luckily, about 1 week later, an additional amount was deposited into my account, correcting the mistake. But I never received any reply from Payroll! Looks like you got my missing money for a little while.
I will be charging you an administration fee of $X<<
Brilliant! lol Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode.
As you're no longer an employee - suggest that you send them something like:
I'm sorry to hear that your payroll department made an error. If you would like me to continue correspondence on this matter, I will be charging you an administration fee of $X thousand for my time and attention.
And include an invoice
This is what happens when payroll gets outsourced to f---ing India.
That's the first thing that came to mind while reading the document.
You suppose that payroll is now being handled in a "low cost" location???? Hee Hee
Spoke with my attorney and was informed that HPE would send the amount to collections. I verified that the amount was incorrect and don't need the hassle.
If they could just take the money they would. The fact theyve asked says they can't and they know it.
Sit it out. If they follow say the dog ate your letter
The bank did not make the mistake, HPE did.
Don't agree, bank mistake in your favor, they need the agreement to legally take it out
We are to send an email with the following:
I understand that a PR Exit Over Payment Error was made on January 27.2017 and authorize Hewlett Packard Enterprise to deduct the Over Payment amount of $xxxx.xx from my WARN Benefit payable no later than February 10, 2017.
Not sure what the consequences would be if the email wasn't sent until after 2/10/2017. I imagine they would get the money back in some fashion.
And if you say no? Presume they still have to pay the agreed WARN
