Thoughts on COR Layoffs

Hello All,

I just so happen to be a performing ASM from a Level 3 “flagship” top location that power ranked #1 end of year for 2016. Previously, I did not earn my promotion from RSC based off of doing the wrong thing to enjoy great sales results such as dirty WHP or fake tablets on 2yr subsidies or even churning customers for CRU GA.

I personally staunchly defend the restock fee. Help customers understand what at&t's Job is (to provide the best wireless LTE coverage nationwide*) and that their Samsung or Apple device's issues actually minimally have anything to do with the carrier and more to do with our manufacturer.

Not only that. But, I have been trained and am skilled to be highly questionable when credit seekers come around and am great at helping our customers own their exorbitant cellular and entertainment bills. And Last but not least, I am a technical asset to my team. I am always the first one asked to set APN settings on an android device. And almost always the first person to turn to for connectivity issues on the iPhone as well. First person to be shown an android malware issue that can be resolved with a smart check and a removal of the malware applications associated.

Not only that but I also detect fraud and willingly walk off of the sales floor with 7-8 iPhones that a fraudster thinks that they are getting. Securing the inventory back in the gun safe.

When I was an RSC for 5 years. I was a top performer. I killed the game year in year out. I used to find great excitement in returning from a weak long of vacation to see I’m still #1 on dashboard in my location. I was when I was promoted in every sense the “company guy”.

I was put into a specific position after over 10 years of tenure with the company where I was not going to allow them to surplus me for the “fun” and decide on ranking of 1-150 or 200 or whatever it is in ASM-TL’s including all of the newly promoted ASM's where they wanted to base rank us. I took the severance.

I can also tell you that as a leader of submitted coaching for my location ensuring that we are 100% month over month in completion. My VPGM, DOS, and ARSM have never complimented any of us as ASM’s driving the business on location month over month coaching completion. Which is an indicator for sales performance within any location. Competing locations were as low as 31% EOM completion.

I'm upset because as a faithful employee and team leader that does all of the stuff I said above and so much more like training compliance, employee engagement, coaching and development and then items like time keeping management and scheduling…. We truly can't even begin to fit all of the little micro details we have to execute daily into this post. our company is so greedy that they aren't even going to take care of their own bottom line?

The company should be a better steward to its people. They are cutting off their nose to spite their face here. Truly. I can't wait to see the VPGM, DOS and ARSM's come into the stores to do facebook/itunes/icloud password resets and smart checks. They act like they know all about this stuff but will be very hard pressed very soon. I'm sure they will also enjoy our new XBM + smart check dealio.

The DOS’s, ARSM’s and RSM’s met during the first or second week of January and sized us (ASM-TL/ASM’s) all up deciding who stay’s and who goes. This was a meeting where those in power decided who makes it passed round 1 of lay-offs. The company will maintain that this was based off of seniority and other metrics such as location and coaching performance. But I can tell you already that the moment I heard this was happening… I knew that they were going to meet up and pick “who they can win with” etc.

When the call came out in the beginning of the month. I decided to go ahead and accept the surplus as I had been planning on leaving the company anyway. I was deemed an underperformer due to my inability/disregard for the political games that are conducted daily and played on the manager 1B and above levels. I don’t care what game we are playing. If you are promoting idiots who can’t hit targets and you’re a sales director and you get called to the carpet. You deserve such treatment.

Final Thoughts:

Bottom line. It's like a fortune 10 company and they don't give a damn about us employees. :) what makes you think they give a flying frog about their own customers? :D

Good Luck to everyone here. Don't forget that all of the times that it was your direct leadership throwing you under the bus. This time. It's actually the company finally doing it to you/me/us.

Sincerely Annoyed

Anyone who buys accessories from a brick and mortar retail store is a s---er.

And whats the benefit of buying DTV at a store?

To those that say retail is dead, AT&T relies on retail to drive accessories and DTV! As an AE on my way out the door I over saw a territory that was responsible for $75 million in revenue a year. My pay in contrast was garbage. With out the focus and help of AE's AT&T will lose more business in these retail doors then they will save. Already seeing it drop off and haven't been out of stores for over 2 weeks. Stores are upset and don't want to sell AT&T cause there is no one to assist them. Verizon and Sprint are pushing to take market share. NO support equals NO sales, but no longer my problem. Was snatched up by a rival and will be happy there... at least for now.

Its too bad you sounded like a top performing retail employee, but everything happens for a reason and the company owned wireless retail store is dead.

You were meant to move on from retail because it has no future with more and more tools allowing customers to do things themselves, cheaper accessories and devices available online and most importantly, no one cares about the AT&T brand, they want the cheapest service that works where they need it to and I predict MVNO's will take over leaving AT&T a network wholesaler in the end.

RIP COR...

And how proud we are of you and all of the little Lebowskis. Why are you casting your pearls before the AT&T elites? They neither appreciate nor want them.
