Any new layoffs today? This thread has been quiet today. My team is really worried and we can barely do our work thinking the ax is coming any time.

You might know all of this but it does say that they didn't put out a public notice of the layoff and that a reader tipped off the newspaper of the layoffs. For whatever that might be worth.
Sad way to live life, scared that you will be fired for NO reason at any given time!!!
Is just a wait and see no one will say anything until it happens. Just keep your resume updated and keep positive.
