Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Pre Black Friday Sale allowed to use customers shop your way points for us.

we literally had about 6-7 customers the entire night. mostly our employees purchased things due to our store manager letting us keep the shop your way points other customers do not want. We used to have AP who would fire people for this but ap no longer there so our management now says keep the numbers up and keep the market team off his back until he can retire and he doesn't care what we do anymore so all of us have about over 100 bucks each in shop your way money to spend at the sale. My lead jokes and told us consider it our Christmas bonus since Sears didn't give us one lol. I get to keep the points for all the hispanic people that come thru my line

You should never steal from any one or any company, no matter how bad they treat you. If you don't like it get another job. The worse part of this is that young workers, many in their first jobs, are learning a bad lesson on ethics as well as a bad work ethic. This company s*cks and treats their employees like trash but don't stoop to their level and be unethical yourself.

To the OP on stealing from the company........you are a real class act with integrity.........the rest of us are busting our butts to do the right things and keep our jobs. Usually if one is unhappy with their job or the way they are being treated ....they just go look for another job.....maybe you should consider doing that and leave us REAL workers with class and ethics to continue to TRY to keep Sears Holding going.

@9055 maybe you can explain to the last comment here why a profitable top 200 store was closed and how this is a part of a transformation that is something other than bankruptcy

This is unbelievable. I completely understand the pressures we go through to meet silly metrics, but that doesn't make it right.

And, for a manager to condone this? This is the Wells Fargo Scandal 2.0.

I wonder how big this problem is across the company, being that security at the overwhelming majority of the stores is nothing more than "remotely monitored" CCTV. Store-level managers are too overwhelmed to play detective (or, like the manager in the OP, don't care because it's "keeping the numbers up").

I know that I've witnessed many associates with their lack of ethics for other things, like completing another credit app on a customer that was declined for the first one, or ringing a no-PA sale under a random associate number. I've always wondered about SYW and the big gaping holes in the potential for dishonesty. How many are creating fake accounts just to meet metrics? How many of those associates that are doing that are using these fake accounts to their own personal advantage (redeeming points)?

This could be a huge scandal that just isn't fully uncovered yet.

You were at the St Pete store that got sold off? LOL

Not everyone in your store got fired, from what I know your SGM got her job saved by them "making" room over at Clearwater/Countryside ;)

@9055, no real way to track, our camera system is garbage and the internet wire is unhooked so it cant be tracked remotely, we have about 40 different shop your way accounts we are loading so that it doesn't hit the same one too many times in one day, then we have a friend come get the free stuff so it isn't tied to our register or discount card in anyway. Eddie is backdooring all of us to steal funds from our stock holders so we are just being robin hood and taking it back. store manager said he dont wanna know how we do it just keep the numbers up and leave him alone

Citibank cannot do anything about SYW points that are earned as part of a purchase. Members must call SYW Member Services. Your best bet is to send a screenshot or image of the store collateral showing the offer.

An employee who uses his SYW membership number to ring up customers in the store will be found out and terminated. Audits of employee accounts are done regularly to look for this. Also, when they see the ringing associate using his own or a family member's card, that will trigger AP to review the camera recording to see what was taking place at the register. Many stores now have cameras remotely accessible by corporate.

Told years ago watching others that if you are going to cheat the system , don't mess with anything on paper. Worked security and Pd long enough to see folks lose it all over the stupidest stuff. Good luck with your borrowed points and your boss not folding like a cheap suit when his little plan is discovered.

Actually used all my points up buying something the other day. Wife wanted to save them for later, I convinced her finally to use them up. worked out really well on the purchase. Clerk was on board with it too.

Very sad. I don't care if there is no AP to stop you, it's called having some ethics even when no one else does. Absolutely disgusting.

syw is broken badly. Points from last night are deferred until 12-1 and only valid until 12-6. I pay my $600 Sears Mastercard off today and I had to call them. It's Citi but they assured me that I would have my points within 24 hours. Yeah right how do they know? No points on the tire purchase I made more than 24 hours ago and SYW can't seem to help. $100 in points or I cancel the transaction.

That's brutal false advertisement. Unless it is resolved I am not going to sell anything to any customer because if you can't take care of your own employees then I don't want to deal with it. Why? They are making us lie to the customer/ member. I have the cash to back up my purchases and if they can't help me and lie to me then why would make a big claims to a customer.

That is part of why I bought another set of tires. I was not so much that I need them. I just wanted to see if it was as good as advertised. Right now it isn't. I am going to take all of the "elfen made, Satan approved" signage down.

I put my money where my mouth is. I called out SYW. Fraud b---s--- is all I see.

I remember the days you are talking about. We hire total d---beats now who do no work and flaunt it and steal - but loss prevention says we can't do anything because of lawsuits. Is this an alternate world or am I seeing it all wrong?
