I have a couple of offers in the bag from other companies who are more where the markets at. I'm just gutted that I didn't get LR'd and paid to leave! I was hoping there might be some Christmas layoffs and I could try to be one of them, but this now looks unlikely. Does anyone know a away to get paid off to leave?

As a 20 years and grade 12 Cisco veteran in Germany I decided to took the maximum package (410K Euro gross see: https://cisco.jiveon.com/docs/DOC-1609744) and walked out of the office in Munich with a big smile. First thing what I did was paying my mortgage 100% and looked around in my network for a new job. After two weeks I got job offer at a smaller company at 30% less salary and less politics. But who cares, no mortgage, kids are already out of the house, no debt etc. THANKS CISCO!!!
Will be long a-- queue of leavers on Jan due to the way hr is non transparent and motivating one self is hard with current leadership (lack off)

Simple. Keep asking for pay rise, rsu. And promotions when you have done nothing beyond average.
Best way to get an LR is to just wait! It will happen some time, and probably sooner than you think. If you want to accelerate your chances just become a pain in your managers a--. That's a sure-fire way to rise to the top of the hit list. In the meantime spend your time training up on courses and certifications that will be useful outside of Cisco. Best of luck!

I stayed at Cisco longer than I otherwise might have, waiting to be LR'ed, until I decided that time, and my sanity, were more important than a little bit more money was. Seriously, just move on. Charge into the future on your own terms.

If your manager smells that you have a job offer, he will never negotiate for a package. Tell your manager that you are too stressed out to work, mentally impacted and want a separation package, they may entertain, will be less than the regular LR package, but it is worth the try (I know because I was a manager.) Do not wait for the actual LR, because you will lose your negotiation leverage with the new employer. I had gotten offer 3 months before last Aug LR but I declined, waiting for the LR. Aug came I got a LR package which was a lot less than I had expected (I was with Cisco for 25 years.) And ... the offer at other company also expired, I had to accept another job offer that is 15miles farther than the old commute, no WFH policy, and very low annual bonus, but I had to take it. Looking back, I should have just taken the 1st offer instead of waiting for the LR...

If you have offers, why not just leave and keep an uninterrupted income? It's always easiest to get a new job while currently employed. I've been LR'd from more than one company, and depending on the job market, you might be lucky to get a job quickly and make money or you might be unlucky and run out of severance and have to burn through your life savings.

Who says we were "lucky people"? While I found another job before my severance package ran out, I now have to move which takes time & cost money. This is not the right time of the year to sell your house, although it is a good time to buy because sellers are desperate.
I'd rather still have my old job and take my time looking for a new one in the local area than have to move my family.

What do you mean "How do you know you've missed the LR?"? I thought they were all done in the UK? Please tell me they're not!!!!
It's not only deadwood who want LR. I wouldn't consider myself deadwood as I work hard, but I have no loyalty or belief in the company anymore and don't see why colleagues who haven't performed as well, get a nice payout and freedom from the sinking ship, yet us good ones have to leave with nothing?
HR case could be a good one. I have some dirt saved up I could start to leverage.
Of course you can engineer an LR but it takes time! Being argumentative with your management, opening HR cases against them and generally being a negative influence will push you right up that list. Asking for a(nother) payrise or promotion is an easy way to get the ball rolling. Don't be available for 'on-call' citing personal reasons like having to take your dog to the groomers. Being late to meetings and first to leave the office in the evening is also a help. You obviously must remain professional and not get sacked but sacrificing an amicable relationship with your manager is imperative! You must make their life difficult and they must want to get rid of you to make their own life easier. The one worry now though is that a lot of people want the LR handshake and 'Deadwood' inhabitance by people who are not naturally in that category is on the increase so people are deliberately slowing down and taking their foot off the gas pedal. It's a race to the bottom now and I feel it wasn't all that long ago when I would never have predicted something like this could ever happen. You can only treat people badly for so long.
How do you know you've missed the LR? What part of the org are you in?

@Kr6p4Ht-cxa If you've made Cisco your life, you better re-evaluate things. It is a mamouth company in freefall decline that can't move fast enough or has the leadership talent to react or cause market changes. Look at SDN, why was Cisco not leading the charge there instead of just reacting to a threat from VMWare? Cloud... let's not start! Rowan says we created the Spark way of collaboration, but again that was actually Slack. Cisco hasn't led anything in decades and has relied on the cash cow of Networking which declined 7% YoY last quarter. By the way, other network vendor grew. The haydays are over and it is now all about damage limitation.
Gloat some more, why don't you? I. The U.K. Even if you did have a Christmas miracle layoff, wouldn't there be a holding period of a month or two? Just leave and be glad your world wasn't ripped out from under you, especially during the holidays.
