I have a couple of offers in the bag from other companies who are more where the markets at. I'm just gutted that I didn't get LR'd and paid to leave!
If you have offers, why not just leave and keep an uninterrupted income? It's always easiest to get a new job while currently employed. I've been LR'd from more than one company, and depending on the job market, you might be lucky to get a job quickly and make money or you might be unlucky and run out of severance and have to burn through your life savings.
I just hate the thought of leaving and getting nothing when all those other lucky people got nice pay offs!
Who says we were "lucky people"? While I found another job before my severance package ran out, I now have to move which takes time & cost money. This is not the right time of the year to sell your house, although it is a good time to buy because sellers are desperate.
I'd rather still have my old job and take my time looking for a new one in the local area than have to move my family.
