Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Who is Running Cisco? Chucky or Kelly Kramer?

Given the interaction I notice during executive leadership team meetings, Chuck listens more to Kelly Kramer than to his own product SVPs.

Can you believe this?

That's what happens when you have a sales monkey without any technology understanding at the top. Will end up listening to finance where his company and products should play.

yes lack intergration is also a leadership failure. However Ask yourself this...when was the last time Cisco's "war chest" decreased? The purchase of companies has very little to do with the money "trapped" overseas. It is leveraged to get good loan deals to buy companies and repurchase stock for a bunch of overpaid executives. At the end of the day It is still an uninspiring leadership choice/strategy to be a m&a/Vc company thru opex by doing lr's to many of the people who built the company. It is done by a bunch of overpaid executives that are incapable of driving and inspiring internal innovation. It is no better than what a group of MBA consultants could do.

When you have a huge pot of money to work with, I don't see the challenge with buying companies. Any moron cam do that.

Getting these technologies, people, cultures, products to snap-in and work together with existing IP.....that is the challenge. And that is what I don't see happening.

Merali played it perfectly. Sure, buy us. But we'll stay over here and you stay over there and don't expect us to be you. We make money so we do what we want, f-- u.

Was setup very well by the leadership team there. Then they got their golden parachutes and bolted.

Bravo!

Your statement is only true if your only innovative plan is to purchase companies rather than internally drive innovation. A true leadership team inspires people to internally innovate and rewards them accordingly. Running a company thru spreadsheets and m&a while continually doing lr's targeted at the 40+ can be done by a bunch of consultants. It is poor leadership...period.

@2dcq no, it's the CFO who promised to constantly improve the bottom line. In a low growth and competitive environment, that inevitably means constant and increasing opex cuts.

Again this a cash flow positive company folks. By definition a well run company takes care of all its stakeholders. Stakeholders do include employees and those over 40 working for the company are employees. A bit of "duh" statement but it highlights the choices the empowered folks of this company are making....they are not looking out for all the stakeholders....only themselves and wall street.

I'm a contractor and they ran out of money to pay me for my OT at the end of the quarter! Had to pull into this one.

CEO and CFO are focused on shareholder value, it's all about "the cash". I used to drink the cool aid until I understood the activities and actions behind a companies financial statement.

It's neither of them. It's a guy named Wall Street who's running the show.

They are all sh-- scared of Kelly. She's a tough cookie, but unfortunately her mission is to expertly manage every dollar and cent out of our future investment budgets until we shut the doors.

Cisco is going down the toilet. I realised this when the Head of Global Sales stood on stage and announced his strategy was to refresh the base "it's all about the bass" and then barged that Tetration was a $1m box we could sell. Only a matter of time before the markets realise this software strategy is all just lip service. Well done Chris you've earned you're millions there!

As for Chuck, I think history will show he was the worst choice possible for that role, it should have been a technologist, but they typically aren't as good at kissing butt! The guy can't even hold on to a CTO for longer then 18 months!!
