Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Why don't smaller schools run their own stores?

I don't understand why these stores are outsourced to begin with. Anyone have any ideas?

It is not cost effective for small school to run their own stores. The schools are guaranteed funds by outsourcing to Follett, some receive millions.

The like the income guarantee, zero investment and no shrink/hassle. The real question is, what stops Amazon from taking over this industry. They are cheaper, they deliver same day or next day delivery depending on your location and it truly is a hassle free buying experience. The decline of Nebraska, B&N and Follett is directly tied to Amazon. They are going to eat our breakfast, lunch and dinner.
