There is considerable and credible research that documents and affirms that forced ranking not only doesn't achieve the objective of effectively managing the human asset. It fosters competitiveness instead of collaboration and is often abused with prejudice. Yet many corporations still utilize the practice. Personally, I think that's because they're too f'ing lazy to come up with a better idea.
