Of course NO.

I worked for SLB for ~4 years and have seen many cases/examples that the management put employees at a secondary consideration, and what they really care is performance (many cases it is just figures, not organic growth or values), asset (even very small gain/loss), and their own promotion.

It is not only in the so called downturn, but stem in the bone of the company's management culture.

No for-profit company cares about its employees beyond caring about how much value they can extract from each one. If you want to work for someone who cares about you, you need to go into business for yourself... or with family.

No public company in any industry "cares" about it's employees. Companies care about employee productivity and retention and compensate with money and benefits to ensure both of those things meet business needs. In industries where tallent is scarce or where the company is expanding rapidly, employees are compensated better to ensure minimal turn over. The converse is also true. The overall guiding principle is profit. No major shareholder or executive gives a sh-- if employees are happy so long as profit beats estimates and the CEO forecasts growth in the coming year. This is true at slb and it's true at every other major company. And if it's not true there yet it will be once they hire a consultant to help them increase profitability which is bound to happen eventually.

SLB is a big company in an industry that experiences many ups and downs. In that sense it's the same as any other similar company, when times are good you get treated well, but don't expect your loyalty to be reciprocated when times are bad. We are all expendable. You're in the wrong industry if your expectations were higher.

SLB is a organisation who is really pathetic towards employee sentiments. Being such a big MNC work patterns remains like donkey slogging and hard work and loyalty is no worth to them. While the time i was relieved from the org the a--hole HR has asked the security to escort me out from gate (That's Insult). My line managers who maligned my work and image were not even there as they had gone for meeting (They wanted to hide their potty faces). Ne ways F--- SLB.. ALL THE MANAGERS ARE FILTH GARBAGE

SLB is a patent owner that is only primarily focused on sales. They have the best lawyers money can buy, and they ensure that all their employees are reminded that they are expendable. That's the Gods-honest truth. I worked for M-I before the acquisition which was an amazing company and SLB wanted the patents and drilling products and squeezed out all the fat they could until M-I dissolved. Try to find one person that has worked for them since 2010. There aren't many except for those who climbed the ladder in the sales department...

The smart thing is to take care of yourself as Mr slb wont give shxt about you or your loyalty. The company was not like this before and would not go return to the good old days when people meant something.

I am not talking about layoffs as all companies layoff during difficult time.

I can only speak for the Florence Kentucky facility and those managers care about one thing and one thing only.....their bonus. It's sickening to see how we are treated. So many of us are trying to get jobs elsewhere. After Jan 1 when we get our HSA money several are leaving this dump.

-apo,

I think you are on the right track. The answer will definitely become clearer if you indulge in a bit more medicinal marijuana. Free drug test are available through HR.

No, in the senior management's mindset, all lower employees are replaceable. All their function are to follow and repeat the standard works and business workflows, there is no art or thinking involved. This is the core ideology of Transformation. So why should they care and invest in you?

Schlumberger is not a person, it is a big complicated organism - as a result the head may think it thinks about employees, but the other organs - no, as they do not have brains, and they just operate as they can.

For example, I think I eat enough good fats, but my metabolic system sh--s them out even without me knowing about it.

In my opinion - no, as this is the organism with its brain invaded by alien parasites, who will leave the body as soon as it starts to die or decompose.

Why do you think the big blue should care about its employees, it only cares about laws and the investors. It is a matter of facts for all current employees, you, as an employee, should think and behave in a similar way.
