Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Amazon at it again

I really don't know if it makes any difference but Amazon just announced that they're building warehouses in both Waukegan and Aurora how does this affect the Follett distribution center?

Although your commentary is difficult to follow, it sounds like Amazon is buying the wholesale division. Although speaking openly, I am not sure of any value that Amazon would benefit from. Rental destroyed the wholesale business.

hello Follett compatriots. Let me address the rumors on the kiva units and the future of the adc. After the first RIF years ago, it took a bit but landed a job with Amazon. I work around their it infrastructure and security teams in their AWS solutions. I was approached as having knowledge around both the kiva units and the ADC. I was then moved into a project as a knowledge with some of Follett's systems. Quick note, there were some legal matters both parties worked out to speak around this and to be open about this between certain people at each company. Long story short, though too late, the kiva units are being removed from Follett and will be brought in to amazon. It is not a direct acquisition. So there is no direct Follett and Amazon connection there. As with Follett's ADC, it is a future plan our intention to rent space but as an entity of amazon with our college book wing to utilize the inventory Follett has and begin to use its empty space while giving Follett some money for rent, in a round about way. Follett may not disclose this and as talks are taking place to keep Follett alive in a way for its name, Follett may speak of an acquisition of a company, an Amazon company.

If this goes well, Follett will retain the ADC and rent its space, state it was an acquisition. kiva is possibly coming back, branded as an Amazon device. This is in the works and is not expected to be done in 2017 but negotiated. Tons to take in but it is interesting to be part of

Whenever you read fear mongering you can trust the person who is claiming that also believes they are criticizing disgruntled employees. fearmongering and disgruntled employee are garbage terms that indicate a straw man argument or weak mind. Better luck next year!

What does it have to do with Follett? Nothing. Some have nothing else to do but write critical, fear-mongering posts that intend to stir up anxiety and gossip.

As we saw in December, buyback is way down so there is just no need for lots of warehouse space.

ADC is going to lose the Kiva robots next year and there is no plan to replace them. Sounds like Follett is exiting Aurora.

Maybe they will just take over the warehouse, probably books aren't going there.
