Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Age Discrimination and Racism

Well I got Follett on the naughty list and it was beautiful. Santa gave me a nice present this year.

After more than 10 years service with the company and dealing with the changes thinking I survived, I was terminated stating a reduction in force and my position was eliminated. As sad as I was I thought it was odd as I heard a replacement of my roles was being hired.

I waited to the last minute before signing and asked a lawyer friend for help. Long story short, she subpoenaed records and I think caused heart failure to someone when this happened and requested a meeting with Human Resources to witness the signing.

Instead of their exit letter a new one was furnished with double the amount and full benefits for a year. While there was a smug look on Follett's end, it was shown a younger individual was hired in my place as a contractor with a company in which a senior individual has ties with. It was also shown from the previous RIF's more than 80% of those eliminated were over 40.

In short, things were settled outside court but was ready for the fight. While I am happy for the win, I wish I had more to take to the company and fight for all who had gone thru this terrible ordeal. Good luck to others in their process. But to those still fighting, there is light at the end of the tunnel and Follett is willing to do a little more if you are willing to work a bit for it

Well no company will hire for life, you can have a contract with the company and early termination clause. Should you have one, and not getting the benefits of your clause when you are terminated, one would be p.o.

I wish I thought of such a contract, but sure would be a hard sell

Moral is very low. They have taken almost all benefits that they possibly could. No more bonuses, profit sharing, no raise in 2 years,.decreased profit sharing contrubutions. I used to boast about what a great company this is to work for and look forward to coming to work everyday felt appreciated. Now appreciation is shown through theme days and emails. Our annual christmas lunch was decorative but the food was awful. Ah but yes be glad I have a job.

Someone has millennial issues I see. Has to troll someone who was able to handle a job for years vs someone who wants to be making $100,000 because ze has a degree.

Hey, everyone has an opinion and can vent their frustrations. Perhaps you are having a desire, kept in your unconscious via dynamic repression, to have a social intimacy persona online.

I love monitoring and posting on this site. Follett deserves everything they are getting. I am sorry for the employees that are still there but incompetent leadership (RG) is bringing this ship down.

Forced out 3 years ago and still trolling this site. Move on. Love to see the contract where Follett agreed to employee you for the rest of your life. Seems like that was your expectation.

Stick it to the man, or was it the woman back then? Either way, good for you.

forced out over 3 years ago. I was told my position was critical to the store. I was canned. They never replaced me. More than 20 years with the company. I do hate follett.
