Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Has anyone from Q1's LR found their next job yet?

How is the job search coming along?

63 here got LRed sept UK, not your normal run of the mill Cisco engineer. Have been turned down for a Cleaning Operative and Road Sweeper jobs at a 1/2 of what I was paid at Cisco told too over qualified. Looks Like I will be using may savings to fund the next years till pension age, but what the hell the suns out in the garden and I don’t have to worry any more if I am next.

Over 40 here. I just found a contract job after a year of looking. They have expressed interest at bringing me on. It it'll be at about half of what unmade at Cisco. I might not be able to afford to do it but In a a way I can't afford not to, either. I'll see what the offer is and hope it's something I can work with. My retirement is pretty much gone and I'll probably have to take the rest of it out to live in the new calendar year. Cisco is full of scumbag leadership and poor management. And the worker bees are the ones who pay the price.

Welcome to the new US of A, where you're expected to appreciate being well underpaid and stack yourselves on top of everyone in your family in a two bedroom flophouse. #thirdworld

Nope, 50 YO here and it's tough as hell to get interviews even on the phone.

I hear you. I'm 49. Like @3clv, I'm not a developer so I'm having difficulties. My issue seems to be that everyone now wants people in my role with Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience. Cisco didn't use the cloud, so I don't have that experience.

I can say that my first Manager at Cisco who screwed me over while my manager got bit by Karma. My other two managers who treated me well and with respect are doing OK (so far). My best wishes to them and my worst wishes to the bean counters & leadership who are ruining Cisco.

Thanks Cisco for nothing. Years and Years of false promises. You hurt my family and a lot of others.

Karma is a b--ch

I was Lr'd last November. Still looking for something "permanent". I'm not a developer/engineer though. Different line of work and it's horrible for my area of expertise and years of experience out here. Just sayin'. And I'm very good at what I do (in fact, 90% of the time I get the "you're overqualified" feedback).

Got a better role and better salary. Took me couple of months but that's because I was very selective. Toronto area.

Still looking. Boston area market is also not as good as SJC market. It's also not bad either. I got the LR in September. Have one good lead going currently. Salary range is also $5-$10K less than Cisco (and I was quite a bit below the midpoint for my labor grade).

40k more than shisco

Troll.

Still looking. RTP market is not as good as SJC market, but it's not bad either. No way I'd make 40k more here than I did at Cisco. Either @qqj was way underpaid or they're lying. Most positions I interview for have salary ranges $5-10K less than my Cisco package.
