Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

we're done (with layoffs) for this year

I dodged the bullet this time (my director specifically said "we're done for this year". Code - more are coming and if the numbers work out as rumored, it will be significant.

I fully expect this to get ugly in 1Q and 4Q each year leading to 2020. 5 gone on my team out of 21 (all virtual staff). Engineers, senior tech staff, operations.

Nothing untouched. The only solace I'm taking is the ability to pull the trigger on my terms and it will come sooner than later.

You can bet the company won't lay off 100,000 people in the year 2020! They will gradually get rid of people every year to the tune of around 30,000 per year, until they reach the 1/3 surplus goal, and then, considering how things look in 2020, there could be even more layoffs. Look for massive layoffs to begin Q1 2017.

I'd not be too happy about "dodging the bullet".....word on the street is the severance packages will be reduced in 2017.

Yeah everyone knows it going to continue to 2020 most are out looking elsewhere already there is no assumption anyone is safe anymore. No one is going to touch this company as a serious career opportunity anymore and T can thank itself for that.
