I got the axe. My boss wouldn't give a straight answer so I don't know if he had a say or not. I knew I was doomed as soon as they announced, though. Now just to decide, take the severance or stay and look?

I dodged the bullet this time (my director specifically said "we're done for this year". Code - more are coming and if the numbers work out as rumored, it will be significant. I fully expect this to get ugly in 1Q and 4Q each year leading to 2020. 5 gone on my team out of 21 (all virtual staff). Engineers, senior tech staff, operations. Nothing untouched. The only solace I'm taking is the ability to pull the trigger on my terms and it will come sooner than later.
How many ATO west coast folks? Did they say the reason was performance or lack of work?
I know for a fact of one person in ATO on the west coast is getting notified today. At least Ohio's AVP had the integrity to tell those getting surplussed what the numbers were. My manager, stated they are not talking about the number of reductions in ATO.
Ditto. They lie. I asked the reasons. One was not enough work. I know for a fact based on a meeting 2 weeks ago that's a lie. The other was performance, but my evaluations were good. So there is the other lie. What is not a lie is I'm a teleworker. What is not a lie is I work for a bunch of Persians and they had an interview with a Persian the day before I was notified. Checking out my legal options before I sign anything. So I am sitting here waiting for my email. Chances of finding another AT&T job are probably 0, since so many are surplussed. Randal is having an all employee meeting and we are not able to ask questions remotely. Of course the message is all sunshine and roses.

I am so sorry to hear that. I am on the west coast as part of ATO and we are expecting calls at anytime to those who have been laid off.
