Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Providence RI

Hiring twenty New mangers and firing 15 employees here in Providence RI. I have three managers for just myself. Unbalanced much? Overseas workers have no knowledge or training but they're cheap.

Same bloated-management-thing @ EMC. A bunch of useless ineffective managers who have been there 20 years only because they are members of the good ole boys club -- which is alive and well @ EMC, They have done nothing respectable or admirable that entire time and the only evidence that they have done anything is getting fatter off the company expense account -- and they do that extremely well.

Many of these managers haven't had an original thought the entire 20 years they have been there. Or, they have "revolutionary" ideas that are abysmal failures and everyone knows it but they still get a promotion and an award for it anyway. Meanwhile everyone from corporate down to the division levels are running around blatantly manipulating metrics and scheming in other ways to cover up their disastrous failures. There is complicity throughout the entire organization.

Yet, the workers are the ones getting laid off while the remaining workers get to make up for it by working harder and longer than they already were. And, don't know about Dell, but EMC is VERY VERY VERY dirty and sleazy when they lay people off. Dell should get rid of most of the EMC managers and save some of the workers' jobs, I am certain getting rid of the useless layer of EMC managers and executives would not be noticed.

Typical of Dell. Spent 15 years there and have thanked myself every day for the last two years for leaving. I now have a job where my work is recognized and appreciated, and am not micromanaged by bunch of do nothing managers. Dell is on a slow death spiral but they are too stupid to recognize that the workers are the ones who bring in the revenue, and not the worthless management hierarchy.

Nothing like bloated management at Dell. Management does not do much other than have Call to Ball and constantly be on your a-- about Lines of Business. Not very many Managers get fired however the worker bees at Dell are put on PIPS and ousted in a qtr.
