Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Who does the off the clock work?

As salaried employees we are never off the clock. Sick day-you get calls from the store. Vacation days- calls from the store, 9pm at night-you get emails from a professor, and, on occasion you get a middle of the night phone call from the alarm company. If you are off the clock, not punched in, do we now ignore all of those until our next scheduled shift? Will RM get alarm codes and get out of bed to drive to our campus at 3am? From now on, banking will happen during my shift, not on my way home from work, as then I will be off the clock.

Bull crap theyes say we will make the same, if that were the case it wouldn't be happening.

Be careful working off the clock. You can be terminated for that because if you're working at Follett's business and using their resources they HAVE to pay you. If they catch you working after clocking out they will terminate you because otherwise it will look like they are coercing you into working without pay. If they don't terminate you Follett can be charged with theft of time. So they act stupid, claim they had no knowledge of this, and certainly don't condone it. Classic damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you don't get your work done in the approved time frame, you're a failure - bad performance reviews. Remember, the family values each and every associate!

From now on, my phone is off to any work related issues if I am not on the clock.
