HPE keeping track of employee IT consumption

Anyone else get the email from HPE showing a report of how much we cost the company in terms of Skype, Conferencing, and SharePoint?

Big Brother is watching!

Just received this email too; getting tired of the poor strategies and programs this company adopts for managing human capital

This is exactly how Shadow IT and security vulnerabilities flourish... People start using other non-approved tools to do audio and video conferencing, so their consumption numbers/metrics don't look "expensive". This is a poorly designed isolated report (and set of metrics). Grew up, HPE... You are not a newbie...

I work a sales support job and I only cost the company $0.09, haha. SO if I had been on the phone too much with my customers let's say, that would have been a problem? SO much for building relationships and getting the money in.

you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you cost the company a low about or use no OneDrive space, then you need to use more. If you cost the company $10, then you need to stop hosting so many concalls.

My bill was for $0.17 .... why bother???? On the other hand, when the disk in my laptop died I had to spend a good deal of time rebuilding it since they got rid of the backup system.

Your OneDrive usage is 0%, costing the company $0.00. Great job! :)

Optimization Tips: Your OneDrive usage is too low.

Back in my EDS days, in the late 90s, there was an exec who sent out a voice mail telling people to stop e-mailing color PowerPoint presentations because it cost too much; that sending out black and white presentations was more cost effective. It was forwarded and "dittoed" by a metric ton of yes-men managers who were either too stupid to see how dumb that was, or simply too eager to agree with an exec-level boss.

I'm grateful I got out of HPE on my own terms, before this month. It'sh--ting the fan, folks. From here on in, the pain gets worse, and the opportunities will dry up (as WFRs glut the job market). Good luck to all my former colleagues, and if you need it, I have a coupon for $1 off any can of Crisco.

Big brother is watching to make sure you don't spend too much or watching to see if you're using these tools that are indicative of actually doing your job?

Extreme cost control measures mean only that revenue is very weak.
