To the poster who would discontinue all the government services etc. I will not argue that one way or another. I will take exception to cancel Social Security and save for retirement. Social Security is saving for your future. It is taken from each and every one of your paychecks - It is not a handout. It is in trouble as the funds all of us working and put into it have been grabbed by gov't. for other uses. We could probably do much better if that money was left to the individual to invest themselves, but there are some who would or could not do this.

I checked the site rules somewhere at the page footer. Free to do that your self, but the bottom line is that along with name naming and foul language (specially racism) the politics is not allowed too. And if you violate the rules hard they can ban your IP as well. For me, this is more than understandable (we all came here primarily for another reasons), specially these days, because as soon someone mentions one of the candidates the whole thread gets hijacked real quickly, like someone already tried with this one.

I really don't think any posts should be deleted because then we lose track of what we are replying to and everything becomes non sequitur.

I didn't think what you said was offensive per se but merely a very pointed question. I have no problem with someone who will make a controversial post because those post often motive others to post. Discussion is a good thing.

I can see deleting a post if it is obviously hateful and lacks any useful content. I thought your post did bring up a question that was valid and worthy of a thought out response. I hope moderators keep this in mind as to making a good public forum.

I have been a ZeroHedge member for many years now and I actually enjoy the fight club mentality. If you are going to make an assertion then by all means do so. The line is crossed at racial and sεxual slurs. That does not help.

And after all of my years online, I am not always correct. I am correct most of the time of course.:-)

We are all in this together and in this case, our jobs are on the line and so is our future. It is a big deal and it will affect all of us.

At this point I only ask people to ask questions of authority. Have a good evening.

@1qkf - I truly enjoyed your thoughtful response to my tongue-in-cheek post. I noticed that the moderators removed all the post involved, including my own, which is okay by me. I agree with you 100 percent that this is an outstanding and informative board. That is why I was distressed to see it spiral into political theatre. My only other observation is that the moderators failed to remove the extremely rude comments posted by ihp and qgu in this thread. Expressing an opinion is fine and welcomed, however, derogatory name calling and threats are uncalled for.

"Gee, I thought this was the board about Sears/Kmart. Somehow I stumble onto the Trump for president board. Well, before I leave to find the Sears/Kmart board so I can peruse information that is pertinent to SHLD, I would suggest to the Trump supporters, practice saying "Madam President!""

It actually is. I have looked at some of the other LayOff boards and I have not found one as good as this one that have the good solid comments by most posters. I happen to be a Sears associate and I enjoy reading what other associates have to say.

Perhaps consider that, we, as Sears/Kmart associates are so used to being lied to that we don't trust anything anyone says. I am an old Ron Paul Associate/member, I have been a delegate and an GOP officer. It was a disaster then and it is worse now. What was swept under the rug in 2008 is rearing it's ugly head again because that really was a systemic collapse. It has just taken this long for people to start to figure it out.

I figured out this whole scam that is called an economy a long time ago. Maybe go read some Ludwig von Mises of the Austrian school of economics.

I have never watched an episode of "Dancing With The Stars". I have, however read, tens of thousands of economic theory and numerous associated articles. I have been inside the political system.

It does not matter who is elected president. It is kabuki theater. What is happening to SHLD is a proxy to what is happening to the United States. It is a fitting proxy indeed.

@1kyg - I agree with your list 100 percent! But I would add one more item to it - no more employer subsidized health insurance. Employers don't subsidize your auto or home insurance, why should they subsidize your health insurance? Employers could arrange for group discounts, however, associates should pay 100 percent for the level of coverage they choose.

If you were to ask me I would discontinue all government programs immediately, that's my personal opinion, its a kind of sink or swim situation, you work and you save and if you cannot tough luck. I would discontinue all gov assistance including but not limited to:

  • Disability (have family support you)

  • Unemployment (save for this, find work)

  • Social Security (save for this)

  • Medicare (save for this)

  • Food Stamps (go work)

  • Children Assistance (have parents pay for this)

  • All schools would be paid and private, no gov involvement

  • Police and Firefighters only on voluntary basis, no gov, if local folks agree to do it, have them pay for it

  • No public transport, buy yourself a vehicle if you need to travel (Taxi and paid bus work well)

Also keep the military (army/navy), fund them well, send them all overseas to hold positions and if necessary fight - but pay them 3 times whatever we pay them now - they need to be taken care of

Obama care is a true gift.... obamacare is worse off financially than Sears if that tells you anything. sure its a gift to people who dont want to work just like food stamps and welfare. All free govt money should have a time limit, no one should be able to sit on their as for 20 years and leech of the people who work. If you are short term laid off, have a disability elderly fine, but if your perfectly able to work, put down the donuts, turn off the young and the young and the restless and take yo as to work. Also maybe try to not sell your childs food stamps for drug money....

Too the last post: If you were having trouble getting insurance then they should have worked on helping you and left the rest of us alone. If your car needs an alternator replaced you do not rebuild the whole engine, you just replace the alternator.

@ihp&qgu Obamacare is a true gift to millions of people in this country that did not have and/or were disqualified from obtaining health insurance. After my store closed Obamacare supplied me with the health insurance I needed at an affordable price. I can't believe that you two are so selfish and self-absorbed that you feel that fellow citizens aren't entitled to health insurance. I thought Eddie was cynical and greedy, but you two take the cake!

Generally an employer will pay for 66% to 77% of the plan cost. I'm guessing that sears is running low on money and has reduced their contribution.

This is a wicked pay cut.
