Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

So you have been thus notified

Reposting something buried in another thread as I think it is important enough to stand on its' own:

"If you are taking the time to read this blog, then you are sharp enough to know that NO ONE and I mean NO ONE is safe from HPE layoffs. You can ask any of the 55,000+ laid off over the last 3 years about it. Top 5% performance rated folks...gone. Key client roles...gone. Supposedly Mission Critical technical roles which no one else can do...gone. Sales related jobs which drive the desired growth...gone. Cache roles in premium organizations such as HP Labs and Cloud...gone. Mid-level management...gone. I could go on for an hour on the type roles HP/HPE has laid off and the number of times folks say it was a "surprise" and that "they could not imagine it being them". The fat is gone at HPE...has been for a couple years...so the cuts are now muscle and bone.

So you have been thus notified. ANYONE can be laid off, so it should NOT be a surprise to ANYONE."

Several weeks ago our team got a heads up from upper management that a 10-15% a WFR was coming, and out of a team of 9-10 engineers, I am the only one that was not working there on a visa. When he mentioned that they are also “aware” of the special circumstances of those here on visas, it was clear that I was probably on the short list. I didn’t like working there anyway, so this is a good opportunity to find something better. They buy a company, call their products their own, and when they need something better they buy another company, pushing those working the “old” products aside. This is my 4th RIF in 11 years based on that exact business model. You don’t attract or keep talent that way.

I got out before WFR... who needs the hassle and enormous expense of COBRA and the deadline to find a job? My new job pays better, treats me better, I got 4 weeks of vacation (5 weeks after a year) to start... HPE treats their employees like garbage, trying to stuff them into the disposal unit. They'll chew you up until you rage quit or they give you notice (probably just before the holidays). HPE has no respect for experience and skill - worse, they don't respect their clients to provide the experience and skill they expect.

Go someplace where they respect you and don't let anybody go to fudge yet another budget line item. Just one of Meg's private plane flights calls for 3 or 4 engineers to be WFRed to compensate. We were/are all expendable to these idiots.

Start looking around now. You will feel more in control. It is easier to be hired when employed. If you are WFRd the shock won't be as great because you would have already begun to process this. Think about it and good luck.
