Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is it normal to feel this way?

Is it normal to not care if another sales associate takes your sale because it's not worth the hassle over the breadcrumbs they call a commission?

Is it normal to pace, wander, shuffle papers, read Pebble, wipe everything down and still be bored stiff because the store is so dead?

Is it normal not to bother checking the commissions portal for weeks on end because you aren't making anything?

Is it normal to look at your manager like he/she has four sets of eyes when they tell you that you can make money by getting recaps?

Is it normal to feel relieved when a customer declares, "I'm going to (a competitor store) instead" (for whatever reason) because you don't have to badger them for a PA?

Is it normal to feel relieved if a sale containing no PAs gets returned or cancelled?

Is it normal to feel numbed when an angry/upset/disappointed customer calls up when delivery screws up or their stuff stops working because it happens way too often?

Is it normal to believe you are only here to sell PAs and credit, not the product?

Is it normal to feel bogged down and not looking forward to another customer, no matter how big or small the sale, because there are too many metrics to satisfy and too many questions to ask?

That's how I feel about working at Sears as a commissioned sales associate. What about you?

To the original post, you sound just like most of the commission sales associates on my Sears store, you are lucky to make over $20 in commissions in a day anymore in the HI area, maybe in HA is different,

You can be with Sears for over 20 years and are still paid the same amount as some high school kid they hire to work on commission who really knows nothing,I have seen it over and over.

You are so right about PAs and those ridulous recaps and don't forget to do your KYMs,that is what is going to save Sears and of course Shop Your Way .

It is such a joke anymore.

@ Sigh, another day at Sears I understand your frustrations and weariness working for Sears; Sears has become the standard-bearer for associate abuse. However, please ignore the poster telling you to quit. As I have advised countless associates, never quit your current job until you have accepted a position at another employer. Also, check with your state department of job services to see if you would qualify for unemployment benefits in the event that your store is closed in 2017. Every SHLD associate should be pursuing that last piece of advice.

Yes its normal. You work for a horrible company. A few elitists are making unbelievable amounts of money at the expense of all the employees of the company. When it finally falls apart, they will walk with multi million dollar packages while tens of thousands of employees go hungry at the unemployment line. Its time for a revolution. King Eddie must be overthrown.

If you feel this way and you are no longer helping yourself or your store you need to find a new job.

I sold appliances until I got fed up and quit in march 2015. For the years 2008 thru 2014 I was in the million dollar club but the bs and other nonsense forced me out. I was delighted to quit and even more delighted when my old store closed down months ago. I found a better job and you should too. Sears is certainly not everything!

I know, I work in the FJ Dept, and our commission is only 3%, but everything helps to make you some money. I try and get credit apps, and care plans. I do understand your frustration. We have no electronics at my store. What will we sale on Thanksgiving and Friday? Try and hang on in there. Peace and Love to you and your family.
