That's heartless. How long did you work for Oracle? Was it for ex-sun?

Did you ever have performance issues?

I'm on the other coast of the US dealing with the sudden death of my brother, I did inform my boss

of what is going on.

Boss asks me if I'm checking email. Hmnn, weird. Then, on the day of the funeral, he sends me a message requesting a time for a phone call the following day. I thought for a minute then called him and asked: "if this is a layoff, why don't you tell me now so I don't lose sleep over what it could be". No response, just the party line. So, we have the call the next day (yes, I was up all night worrying) and he woodenly reads from a written script my RIF notice.

"Blah Blah Blah, HR policy, that's all I have to say". Try a little humanity. Some belive that they specifically hire/promote management based on lack of empathy. It is a messy trait.

Written from somewhere in the bowels of the failed SUN Microsystems acquisition. I'm so happy to be out of there.

If your manager/director reminds everyone to have the PTOs accounting update to date....
