Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Does Cisco have a block on those LR'd from getting re-hired?

I am wondering if Cisco is flagging those LR'd and blocking them from getting re-hired into the company? This may be a hush, hush thing but it seems like those LR'd have no job openings for them, even if they are qualified for those roles.

F this place. If I'm not good enough after 17 years to continue in "leadership's" eyes, I'll be damned if I'm I gonna stick around for the next firing squad.

You are beginning to see the end of this hell hole.

Goodbye clownshow

A few of my co-workers that were LR-ed were rehired.

and

Within transition period there are no restrictions. Most of my team that wanted to stay internal found something internal already.

Can you guys share from which BU/Org to which BU/Org did these co-workers move?

Most of my team that wanted to stay internal found something internal already.

Do you have any numbers? How many wanted to stay and found something internal? How many wanted to stay and didn't find anything internal job? How many wanted not to continue working for Cisco?

Most of my colleagues got LRed, took 6 months salary + got outside job 30% having >11 yrs exp and then discussed with managers to whom they know or wroked and joined back after one year with 40% in Cisco with Higher Grade.

You are fool if you want to join back within 6 months. Waste man !!! Cheer up wake up .............

There is no Rule after 6 months ....Donot waste time join without higher grade.

A few of my co-workers that were LR-ed were rehired. The hardest thing is meeting the separation date to avoid the hassle of switching work gear.

Within transition period there are no restrictions. Most of my team that wanted to stay internal found something internal already. At the more senior levels it is much harder to find something.

in the 6 months after you leave, you can be rehired but they can ask that you repay a portion of severance. That is not mandated, and can be negotiated, in particular if you lost RSUs. VP or possibly SVP approval is needed to rehire in that 6 month window.

After 6 months you are just like any other external hire.

All of that being said, if your former manager/director is still there they will get asked about you. You may get blacklisted by them if they thought you were a poor employee.

There is no "phantom database" blackballing people that were LRed. There is a check that you are eligible for rehire, but that really just means you were not fired for cause. Almost no one is ever fired for cause.

Why would you want to go back?

Some possibilities:

  • Cisco engineerging work is full of hacks, workarounds etc which you learn the hard way as you go along. All that insider knowledge is suddenly of no value (and you need to start at a new company from ground up)

  • in the middle of the Greencard process

  • good/fast commute

  • not too much work pressure

Why would you want to go back? Move on - you will be happier! I was LR'd after 11 years and I am so relieved.

As full time employee, If you come back within 6 months you will need to pay some of the severance package.

Our BU (no layoff) was explicitly asking for resumes from engineers of a "similar" BU (which had layoffs).

My observations say, yes. Officially, you can be rehired, but unofficially they do not seem to be hiring anyone LR'ed. You can be re-hired after your severance date, but only of the req is external and you may have to pay back some of the severance if you are re-hired within 6 months.
