We were told not to ask members if they wanted to use their points and to only do so when the member inquired about them. However, I ignore that rule and will continue to ignore it because of how the register works. Once I hit the total button and tell the customer the amount of their purchases I can not go back to a previous screen. If the customer then asks if there are any points to use then I have to void out the sale and re-ring everything. So screw Sears, I'm not going to make my job any more difficult than it has to be or any more annoying for the customer. It already takes too long to ring them up with all the screens to go through.

You can still use your shop your way points with your employee discount. The " suprise " points" they upload to your account is really just a coupon. Spend $50 in clothes get $10 in suprise points is just the same as a coupon that said $10 off a $50 purchase. We stopped combining coupons and discounts when they kicked off this SYW program. It has been awhile.

I do absolutely hate that they send out emails that have " you have $20 in suprise points!"*. In huge font that NOONE ever clicks on and opens. They just trudge to the store thinking they have $20 to spend and it is $5 for spending $250 in clothes and $10 for $5000 in appliances $1 for buying some specific Barbie at Kmart etc etc and NOT that $20 worth of clearnance clothes that they think they are going to get.

They also take weeks to update your points in those emails do the balance shown is always wrong on your daily emails.

The day SHC dumps the employee discount, is the day all employees will walk out. What does everyone think?

WTF? The surprise points/coupons & the old 5% back in SYWR with a Sears card is the only thing that kept me working at Kmart. To be able to use my points for free stuff and to stretch my money. So you cannot earn SYWR points when you use your employee discount? So you cannot redeem your SYWR points with your employee discount?

Well, you can no longer combine employee discounts with coupons or surprise points in most cases.

Also, there was whispering of plans in the spring to no longer allow base points to be redeemed on certain items like food, batteries, cosmetics and health and beauty aids. Rite Aid did something like this.

Shop Your Way was hailed to be the savior of Sears and Kmart, yet instead it was the complete opposite. It was and is a liability, don't let Sears execs fool you.

Corporate finally realized that too many customers were getting stuff for peanuts and finally got it together. I was one of them: I bought a dishwasher for effectively 60 percent off when I bought my French door fridge. They think that customers will forget to redeem them when it comes time to check out. Savvy customers won't forget about these kinds things so it won't work as planned.

So, Sears and Kmart are backed into another corner: let Shop Your Way pay out $$$ as it stood and go bankrupt in the process, or cut down on SYW incentives and lose customers (and go bankrupt).

Of course, it isn't even a significant cause of their financial trouble, yet it is still troubling to such a financially unstable and unprofitable company.

On another note, how long until we lose our employee discount? I have a feeling that it's coming...
