Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Laid off because I criticized the survey. They don't like my feedback

On my way out now after I stood up in a meeting of managers and made some critical comments about the survey. I was told to sit down and when I continued to speak one of the managers can over and forced me down into my seat and told me to shut up. The next day I got the final bullet due to costs reductions that was planned two weeks ago. That's bull but I am out of that sinking ship and glad to be

Yeah it was weird how the survey required your gin number but then later, this featured was removed?? What the hell? Oh well I put all poor for the questions... and most of the people at my location so are they going to lay off everyone??? B.S!

Then the last question about transformation, They do not know how to roll out a new process correctly!! Things are going to fall apart real fast with all these changes they want to implement.

SCH will be just a bad memory in less than Five years. They have let go of the senior folks...and seniors took all the years of tried and true work and applied knowledge and they will carry that to other companys, which will try and apply and run past SCHLUMBERGER like they are standing still, which they will be doing. You can't tell xemployees to not share their experience........they may not give trade secrets, but boy, watch them show how to get a job done faster, better, cheaper, and out the door sooner to the customer. Shame on you Cameron for not Providing some protection for these folks.

Distinguished and long serving employees. SHAME on you. HOPE YOU CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT...KNOWING IT IS YOU THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR ALL YOUR DEDICATED EMPLOYEES TO BE THROWN TO THE DOGS...

If you are one of their brain washed students, then all is well.

We give "anonymous" surveys to customers. Later I find out that we had been lying and the data is open to all employees. A company that lies to customers about anonymous surveys will certainly lie to employees.

This Survey came from Cameron. If you take it, and you must, it is not Anonymous like they say it is. The key is to say you love your boss and your job and everything is awesome. If not, it's the quickest way out. Just a warning.

Hats off to you for speaking up.

Obviously, Paal and his pals haven't read nor understood the "How true leaders handle budget cut" post and the comments from 10 days ago. Copying it for them here:

How true leaders handle budget cut

When budgets are cut, weak leaders cut people to make up the shortfall. Strong leaders ask the people to help figure out a better solution. We are not defined in the good times. We are defined in the tough times. Leaders are no exception to this rule. They are defined in the bad times. Paal failed the test of bad times miserably.

You should consider it a blessing in disguise. You have your freedom now finally - sort like how the plantations slaves of the 1800s felt after Lincoln freed them. There is absolutely no shame in being let go for speaking your mind; in fact, it makes you a hero. Remember the old adage - "It is way better to live like a tiger for a day than to live like a jackal for a hundred years."

Trust me, you are much better off now. 99% of my old coworkers hate SLB, the one thing they are good at is ruining once great companies. I wouldn't go back for double my wages.

I have learned to deal with favoritism now the hard way after almost ruining my career. Favoritism is widespread but it's not too difficult to deal with if you are smart and competent. First and foremost your goal should be to not give a lot of efforts to your job. Only give as much effort as the boss's favorite does. You should not help or share valuable knowledge with the favorite. You should only give your valuable opinions when boss or higher ups approach you for it. You should savor in the failures of the favorite and the boss's projects.

I will only say this one more time. If you think SLB is doing something wrong as I did, document it and file an FTC complaint. You do not even have to have solid proof yet just suspicion........This could give you protection under the whistleblower statute and if and when you are laid off the payoff will increase. Just remember, if you sit back and don't report you get what you get and can't throw a fit.......If you all want I can even post the same of the FTC agent that was assigned to me.

Kudos for speaking your mind! Management thinks they can just do/say anything and everyone is just supposed to take it.
