Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

More misery on the horizon

Folks in Marketing can expect more misery and chaos. I fully anticipate seeing more LRs, people being actively managed out, attrition, etc. Things are so screwed up. Older folks are targets. The show is now being run by clueless newbies that have been given the keys to the kingdom.

There's pretty much no more web team. A certain VP gutted the whole department with a half-baked plan for omni-channel marketing. Ah, buzzwords. So easy to say, so difficult to put into practice. I would seriously question the bookings numbers coming from that team. The back end is a patchwork of useless databases and antiquated tools.

The CMO will soon be out on her can. Cisco thinks digital marketing is hiring an outside firm that's even more slow and antiquated than they are to come up with a save the whales theme that doesn't connect to technical buyers. Last time I checked, Greenpeace isn't buying a boatload of routers and switches. Everyone else is making the switch to Arista for hardware, Palo Alto for security and AWS for cloud.

Which marketing teams? It's been a mess since last Aug when key team leads were removed from the launch process. Nov and Feb caused even bigger pain (same amount of work with less people)
