Our center was empty, but in the last 3 months they have hired over 100 reps. If they are laying off then why are they hiring all these reps?

Because they can get them cheaper than what they are paying employees that are currently there. This is the way AT&T is going.....they have no care for their employees, want them gone as soon as possible so they can hire cheaper and less qualified people. This is the NEW AT&T.
interesting
The company is in the process of hiring part time seasonal employees. The new faces will be gone after first of the year.
While I love technology and everything about it. Working for AT&T was not my favorite job. Demanding hours even at part time and stressful conditions caused over 43 employees from our call center I worked at to either move, or find positions with other companies within a year time frame.
Many employees started having mental issues with anxiety, depression, etc.
One example, as being a employee who maintained top 10% status in the company for 6 consecutive months, I was still threatened with termination and reprimands.
They do not cater well to those with medical situations either. We had someone go to the ER in an ambulance from the store and was not given grace for those absence days even though he was wheeled out on a stretcher.
They claim to want to assist you in getting wellness and promote healthy lifestyles, yet do not include it in your benefits.
They expect you to retrain at any point in time and expect you to pay for it and do it on your own time.
I would not ever go back to work for AT&T
You must be a new employee, are you?, kind of silly post
Consolidation ..,.some centers will remain and many will close
They want older workers gone that know how it used to be....when you you were treated well not micro managed to death. They want to treat you with a iron fist from day one, lower pay & benefits,no sick time, scare tactics every day, numbers you can't make or your gone!!
Our so call leaders lost their-way long ago, not exactly creating jobs , replacing older folks, with new workers in exchange they get, Lower pay, lower benefits, lower career exectation, in summary win for the company
