Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Massive strike rumored by California technicians on Monday.

Any confirmation of this? A lot of areas have a ton of work. Could this be a way to force AT&T's hand in finally hammering out a contract?

So is the strike set for Monday, a sure thing? Some are saying it's set for midnight.

If At&t had any issues with getting the work done all the do is bring in techs from other states.

As another person mentioned this wouldn't be like storm conditions. Also, even if other CWA members were willing to cross picket lines or work in a striking area (which would never happen), it would severely cripple AT&T West operations not to mention the fines that would be handed down by the CPUC. No, a strike would have a very immediate effect.

Only the beginning of layoffs. Keep your head in the sand.

This wouldn't be like a major storm, where they send in techs from other states. This would be a strike, complete with picket lines. The kind of lines other union members rarely cross, no matter what state they are from.

A fair contract would be good for both side! A strike would not be good for both sides! But I would be worse for the union. How bad do you think it's going to hurt the company....not at all. Here is why. If At&t had any issues with getting the work done all the do is bring in techs from other states. That's where the union really has failed. You can't have the contracts expire at different time for different areas! Unions work because it's the power of all! Not all but this group and this group over here. How dumb is that.

It'll probably happen later that week. IEFS managers start getting their surplus papers on Wed-Fri so many mangers probably won't care too much next week.

We are prepared to Strike soon! The contract the T is offering is pathetic for the profits they bring in from CA alone! We already are doing work actions...Strike is next step!!

It's no secret that a massive strike is being prepped the details are secret though no one really knows when it will happen. I can tell you that there have already been days that the trigger was ready to be pulled but the CWA pulled back because too many people revealed the day and time so it keeps changing. If you're hearing Monday then it means it's not Monday.
