Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

One of the best!

Long years, great people and experiences.

A former colleague and friend once said "Change equals opportunity". Whether you are gone or you stayed, make sense of the change, and find out how to best utilize your talents. Be agile, flexible and be your best everyday.

Enbridge has been one of the best companies I've had the opportunity to work with, and I've been treated fairly over the years and in this final transaction. Be aware though, that once the cards are on the table things happen real fast, almost abruptly. To be escorted and have no opportunity to take care of personal stuff is no fun.

Thank you Enbridge, but most importantly thank you to all my colleagues and people leaders, you made Enbridge this great place.

I AGREE!

Dear "one of the best"

To clarify, I'm not bitter just stating a fact...I'm glad you're were treated with respect and dignity. However that's not the case for everyone myself included...I can assure you, my skills shouldn't be your concern as they're well developed and my cover letter is looked by the greatest mentor one can have so, as you can see no need to worry about me.

Here is why your comments are insensitive "#great advices":

People gave their all everyday to Enbridge just to be told, sorry your position was eliminated

Agile, flexible? Really!? Do you even realize how many people was let go, who was "agile and flexible" when it comes to work?

Do your research and don't generalize your comments...good luck to you Sir.

The comment about less "hard worker" employees is not fair. Many employees work even overtime and not getting paid as the contractors. It is common also to hear that contractors always pretend to word harder and more than employees just to cheat and charge the company 11 hours daily and some others on the weekends.

Totally in agreement with One of the Best. Enbridge staff had it easy and so should thank the company for its generosity and giving you a good job for a time. Show some appreciation even if you're the one being kicked out. Changes equal opportunities - no better way to say it. A mother will eventually have to let the kids go and explore a broader horizon, especially kids who have become reliant and complacent and therefore may lose their competitive edge.

Heard that virtually all of Enbridge staff takes long coffee breaks and slacks off often hence people like to work there, a "high pay and do little" culture. Friends bring in friends or family brings in family. Perhaps a transparent and fair recruitment process based on competence should be practiced more.

The company should perhaps consider "do more with less" to achieve efficacy and efficiency instead of hiring many staff who get paid high salary thru cranking up Albertans utility bills.

Dear "us who was treated poorly,"

What in these comments do you find insensitive? Must every experience equal that of your own? There is great advice in this post. The more time you spend feeling bitter about your past experiences, the less time you have to move forward. Change your outlook, strengthen your skills, and make sure someone proofreads your cover letters.

I hope you are able to arrange a time to go back to your office, even if briefly and with someone looking over your shoulder, to retrieve your personal items, such as any family photos and whatnot.
