I saw a post buried in another thread that the HPE severance package was dropping down to 4 weeks starting on 11/1. Can anyone confirm this?

get on" the WFR list - Yes it possible to influence the list as a lower level manager, but it requires you have a Senior Leadership team that can effectively communicate with the lower Mgmt ranks.
I was able to get people moved on a off the slate as an L5, however the final approval had to come from our L3 executive.
I would say my situation is not common across the company as most L5 are left in the dark when WFR's are being planned. I was fortunate to get pulled into the planing process early, so I could help influence the process and start communicating to people weeks before anyone knew what was going down.
I am not aware of anyone being able to "get on" the WFR list. Currently the HPE WFR list is created several Levels above your manager and months before you or your immediate manager are notified. I'd like to see one case for you were actually able to influence being on it as an employee or your direct immediate manager is able to influence it in that role since it was set so many months ago. You may think you can by volunteering for it. But if you did and then were on it I hate to say this but you were already on it and you manager is just too nice to tell you that. And your manager may convince themselves that they have the ability to influence it, But from my experience at HPE in the last four years in those roles not even close - Absolutely no ability to change the list that was set high up. So not saying all this to stifle conversation. sure people can speculate how many weeks it is all they want. My personal information as the plan is not changing on 11/1 so there's some data from one source that one can use. But again I don't think anyone can make any actionable decisions with that piece of data. People being laid off now had the decision on their being laid off back in the March timeframe. Fact. But again let's say my data is wrong and the plan is actually changing November 1. if you're being laid off you're ready on the list and it's a done deal. Fact. So knowing that the plan is changing November 1 is not going to change yours or anyone's situation one bit. If you want action...then man-up to the situation in HPE and start looking for a job elsewhere.
To some people 4 weeks would be a small pittance. And most people do have options to get themselves on the WFR list - I mean, seriously?
I don't understand these incredibly ignorant comments that are always trying to stifle discussion on here.
Same point I just posted on another HPE thread. If you heard a confirmation that, as a purely mythical example, that is was going to 4 weeks...or is being increased to 237 weeks for that matter...what would you do with that information? You don't really have an option of being WFRed or not so you get the package of the moment. I guess if it reduces to such a small pittance that is really does not matter in terms of decision making then one could leave whenever. But if the package is reduced to 4 weeks starting 11/1 and you get WFRed 12/15, it is what it is. You can't effect it so knowing really won't get you much....
Don't rely too much on the WARN Act for protection, HPE knows exactly how to circumvent these requirements. There are several exceptions that allow companies to avoid WARN notification requirements such as the number of employees per site, "unforeseen business circumstances", etc. This is probably one reason why there are so many repeated layoffs but of relatively small numbers each time, a mass layoff would trigger WARN requirements, but these continual smaller ones do not.
Seems unlikely as the payout is a substitute for giving 6 weeks notice of a major layoff. This is called WARN. They are already doing the minimum that they can. They don't want the publicity of being on the government web sites that list layoffs.
This rumour that theyll cut the payoff has been around for a while. It started because when they launched the current cull they did the usual and said any cuts beyond the end of the cycle ending in October would have to be funded at Account level.
That said i would not put it past them to screw people over if they can. IBM did it.
I was told this as I was being laid off at the end of September, that if I had been laid off in FY17 I wouldn't get the package I was so they pushing my release forward. They had me promise not to tell my team who was moving 300 miles that they are probably also going to get it. Sad days
I hope not
I guess I should consider myself "lucky" then, as I was kicked out mid-July... I've been so lucky that I still don't have a job even though actively looking. The competition out there is brutal...
True.
