Even if offered, Bill must say no to becoming HPE's new CEO. That will be the end of a great career. Meg's damage can't be reversed at this point.
I worked under his Organization (but not reporting to him directly). He was always very approachable and down-to-earth. I exchanged words with him several times, and nobody would say he was one of the Company Top Guns. I think I speak for the ones that in one way or another worked for him in saying that what remains of his ex-Org. after last Monday (not much) really miss him. He would be an incredible choice as CEO if Meg steps down to work for Clinton. Great, great guy...
He stood up against the witch, and I respect him for that. He was fired for leaking Meg's missteps to the media. He actively participated in multiple forums (anonymously) raising his voice against HPE's faulty strategic direction (until they were able to prove it was him, and kicked him out). Bill should be considered a hero within HPE. If Meg goes to work for Clinton, he would be an amazing choice for becoming our new CEO. That would be amazing - and possibly the last chance for salvation for this falling Company...
