Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Meg ejected the entire OpenStack/Helion team.

I worked on supporting OpenStack for HPE for 4+ years and got laid off yesterday. HPE is killing all cloud computing support including 3par support for OpenStack, the entire Helion product line. The entire 3PAR OpenStack team got laid off. Good luck closing those active sales deals with major customers. Meg doesn't care about making money through sales. She is an idiot.

Those kind of negotiations usually take place at the VP level or higher (levels 2 & 3). The Director title nowadays is basically the equivalent to a Senior Manager 3 years ago. It's just the title, but with no real additional accountability and/or salary change.

Stackato is now down to a caretaker org in the US along with the Canadian and European offices. SUSE handed them a target budget number and told them to hit it if they wanted to get bought. At least the management did the honorable thing and laid themselves off in the process.

Of course... They understand well that they won't be able to compete with the new "Dell/EMC/VMWare and AWS" alliance... For those that kept their jobs (for now), my only message to them is... tic toc tic toc tic toc...
