Very true and a reminder that some things will just get you and this feels a lot like NT when it was nearing the end. No one is too big to fail

http://business.financialpost.com/fp-tech-desk/where-nortel-went-wrong?

A good summary of some of what brought NORTEL down. Sound familiar? -

"What they witnessed alarmed them. “Nortel is an industry laggard,” Mr. Kunis said at the time, “and it doesn’t seem to know it"

“There were flashes of brilliance but no coherent strategy for producing hit products.”

“Keep in mind, you still had a lot of Nortel people used to the glory days who think, ‘We’ve just got to get through this economy"

This could really be Cisco's future. Scary.

Agree here. Cisco is going the same route as Nortel.

Money in the bank won't help if it is locked up over some political squabbling without any chance of being freed up.

They also would say Nortel has money in the bank but a company of that size also goes through millions like it's nothing.

Nortel was quite a story of disintegration. Nobody would have ever thought a company that large and with that market cap could cease to exist as fast as that company did.

Many a sad story of empty offices, whole floors abandoned and dark, and thousands and thousands of employees waiting for a separation package that shrank and shrank and shrank.

Let that be a lesson to all of you. There are no guarantees.
