I had 3 offers before i went back to cisco, one with 50% travel , other with 75% travel for roughly the same amount of benefits. The other was taking a 25% pay cut. Note this is in RTP.

I can obviously only speak for myself and my own location in the UK and happy to discover that life after Cisco is looking pretty positive overall. Engineers are in demand and folks will easily match conditions offered at Cisco, and in most cases beat it. Dunno if I believe people claiming 200% increases etc. but good luck to them if they have

Totally agree with 1foo. And good luck as the economy slips into official recession in the next few quarters.

While these stories sound great....don't believe most of it. It highly depends on your location and job type. If you are in the Valley/San Fran, you could probably get a bump up. Other parts of the US...not likely.

Generally you'll see an increase of 30% minimum once you leave the mothership. Back in the day Cisco used to pay like 70th percentile salary, the idea being you got their name on your resume. They still think they are the only game in town, and haven't woken up to the fact that other shops exist and know how to treat talent. Mileage will vary, of course.

Ask yourself when was the last time you got a payrise at Cisco? I think it's fair to say Cisco USED be competitive in terms of salary and overall package but those days are long gone. You will find that most places have caught up and many have surpassed them by a significant margin. Cisco living on legacy reputation that is sadly no longer living up to.

Really depends on your location and what you do , was put at risk a month ago in UK and the job market is currently very good , depending on your skills. Salary wise Basic up to 40% higher than Cisco and OTE about 50% higher than Cisco with smaller companies. Same size companies 20% higher.

No new job as yet !
