Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

The industry is unraveling

The whole Industry is showing signs of cancer. This could be the beginning of another 10 year downward cycle.

First Ericsson, now HP: http://www.businessinsider.com/hp-employees-become-contractors-2016-10

Good luck to all you poor bastads stuck upsidedown in your $1.5MM San Jose dilapidated studio. Your gonna be there a while.

To de doom. All that will do is drive up the going rate/cost of living, etc., just as in SV. Then the same old thing happens again. Layoffs of US workers in favor of H1B in that location

Not sure I agree. I see plenty of opportunities posted at Cisco in the RTP office. Seems like smart minds would hire there at at discount vs. SJC given the opportunity.

I'm sure even H1Bs are more expensive in Silicon Valley

I have moved to Bay Area around 2 years ago. But now regretting the decision. Unfortunately all the job opportunities are here in SJ Bay Area so I am stuck.
