Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Hourly change

Does anyone know when the hourly changes come, so we have to work overtime? Or can we say thanks guys but my availability too has changed to where I'm only available for up to 40 hours a week and am no longer able to work weekends. Sorry but if your gonna pull that change I'll get a second job. Uber drivers make more than the overtime.

I am betting they give you way less per hour and say you will make the same in the long run with overtime during rush, special event weekends, etc.

So, now my trips to the bank, any work related errands, etc will be time out of the store during the day instead of me doing these sort of things on my own time.

No more answering the phone off hours, responding to emails, or doing any work from home. I know every manager does work out of the store.

I wonder what the diving line is between too close to retirement and abuse them out? The previous post might indicate that if management knows you're within x number of years to retirement, they'll leave you alone. Maybe?

Too close to retirement. Reality is no one will hire a 65 year old, if younger would have been long gone.

Honestly, people who were able to find jobs have left already. The ones left and complaining constantly are the ones who can't find jobs out there for whatever reason. Honestly, they should just shut up and be glad they even have a job because its quite obvious they can't find one job outside of follett.

Or else they would have left long time ago.

Follett screws us with pay cuts, lost $5/hour when my position was eliminated, then rehired, with a promotion, was told salary was non-negotiable. Can't wait for overtime to kick in, hopefully make up for 10-12 hour days put in.

Being switched from salary to hourly isn't the issue.

Will our hourly rate be cut to allow for required overtime?

Pay cuts are the scary part of this.

Keep track of your hours. If the company tries to make you file a 40 hour time card for a 40+ hours week, get that communication in an email, or document the conversation. You'll need the documentation to proceed with an action against the company. If you have nothing documented, you're working for free.

The big government declaration, the emancipation proclimation and the other big government over reach, the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the constitution prohibit you from being required to work for free. The new labor requirement simply states that if you're making under $x, you shouldn't be c;lassified as exempt and you should be paid for you labor over 40 hours/week.

More big government dictating what corporations should pay their employees.

I ask my regional this week and he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about concerning salary to hourly.

Time is running out....December 1st will be here and Follett as usual will be caught with their pants down.

By law employers can make you work overtime. If you refuse you can be fired. Now we all know Follett doesn't want overtime so I think we are safe with just working 40 hours a week.
