Most of the old folks that are cut, are 3 years shy from the 75rule, what a deception , bye bye retirement or any benefits

There is a recourse, especially if you have been replaced by H1b visa holder. There is a recourse, there are lawyers and ex congressmen who are aware of this problem, but they need an employee to file a case for them to pursue this course. how many of u are willing to go this route, this is not going to cost the employee lawyer fee. But probably they will get paid by the penalities that will be imposed when the court determined that rules have been broken, I will post information here. But again this is a trust information, we do not want the management to know, so this needs to be done discretely.
Metric is as follows or close to it.
75-(your age and years of service)=X If the result is close to 3 or less, meaning you are nearing the "modified" rule of 75 and therefore qualifying for retirement benefits, you will be at risk.
The company can layoff "younger" workers but with many years of service mixed in with olders ones and make it appear as it it not age discrimination. It is, but mostly it is how close are you to receiving retirement benefits.
Seems that mgrs didn't like having directors or even avps decide. It makes sense. Earlier this year some AMs weren't even consulted about their direct report surplus and some were pissed on outcome.
It appears AT&T is letting the manager of an impacted group use their own discretion in selecting who will be let go should they have to go down in headcount. There is no real formula being applied. This feels very different than what has been done in the past.
Does anyone know what formulas they use when deciding if done by the book, what ratios of what metrics or whatever?
Anyone here that has has to choose who will stay and who will go?
write to your congress member
Of course there are going to be some retaliatory layoffs, but mostly it is done for numbers only. In my case, an entire team was released, managers and all, including myself, simply for a monetary decision. No one was allowed to "follow the work" or transfer. A couple managed to find jobs, but not all. Just realize that your performance, no matter how much you've given them, will mean nothing.
They think they are too big for legal recourse.
The spreadsheet which was referenced is updated by your supervisor - it's more of a likability spreadsheet than who does the best job - and YES, ENPS scores are factored into it (it's not on the spreadsheet, but this is definitely a factor. Such crazy crap.
Our team of had 10 members, they selected the most senior , all engineers, and most experienced co -workers, 25+ years the 3 of them, the people that remained no one had technical background,, We do believe they were selected since they voiced their opinion to our area Manager, which she not even have a college degree, in short looked like retaliation masked as layoff
But there seems to be no consistency. It is clearly not by title since some folks in the same title and group have been told they are safe while others are impacted. There has to be some criteria.
No. ATT is laying off employees by looking at a spreadsheet. Nothing more.
