The MOA Sears will be open 6-12 close and reopen at 5 am. I think most the Sears in the area were told to follow suit.

@1sxc, Unfortunally your store is now exhibiting the warning signs of a P2P store or a store that is about to close?

We have no electronics at my store, we do not have a sales ad in the Sunday paper. Opening and Closing hours cut. M_T 11/8 F_S 10/9, Sunday 12/6. Why come to Sears for Black Friday.

@1vln. Thank you, that comment was funny but Unfortunally true. Doesn't LG or Samsung make a washer or dryer that will cook your food for you and also doubles as a TV set yet?

They are really WOWed when they run in and realize many of our stores have no electronics.

A pretty significant item at Christmas.

I'll try and talk them into a dryer insted.

Same open schedule as last year. 9055 - you are a joke. Being open Thanksgiving will do nothing to help keep the company afloat. There is no way it is mathematically possible to keep Sears and Kmart alive now. If you knew anything at all about company, aside from the bs Eddie feeds you - you would know this. The debts to lenders and the pension are all public record. Do your research and stop posting garbage. It's all a waiting game while Eddie shifts around money and properties to Seritage and figures out how he will flee the USA on his 240 foot yacht to a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the USA if he is forced to open the "real" books in Federal bankruptcy court.

I think all associates should call in that day. Why should we give up our holiday to help Eddie when he's done nothing but give us a big d#*k up the azz? There is no future for anyone working here, no point in giving up family holiday when they will announce closure of all brick and mortar stores in January and be online only. What are they going to do - fire everyone, lol? They say it's mandatory to work that day but they can't fire everyone since they can't get anyone to work there since the public knows it's a dead company. Severance is 1 week pay for every year worked up to max of 8 weeks so not losing much there.

9055-I can't disagree with you more. First of all other stores are not closed. Retailers have done themselves in when it comes to holiday sales. It started off as Black Friday. Then the hours moved to 10 pm on Thanksgiving night, then 8:00 pm then 6:00 pm then 3:00 pm and if a store opened at 3: pm on Thanksgiving then the next store will outdo the other by opening at 12:00 pm until all the stores just remain open from Wed through black Friday and no one retailer has the edge.

And that, has killed the holiday sales. Black Friday shopping is nothing special anymore. Sales, promotions, coupons etc are all weekly standard fare. There are deals to be made whenever people shop. Christmas is out in late September and most people like myself have the main bulk of their shopping done before Thanksgiving. I have about 1/3 of my xmas shopping done already and will be done by November.

Our family has now created new Thanksgiving traditions instead of shopping. It used to be the women would get together on Friday and Christmas shop and have lunch out etc. Now instead we spend Thanksgiving night watching "Planes Trains and Automobiles with lit candles and pumpkin pie. On Friday we haul out the decorations and in the evening plug in the tree and sit down to Lampoons Christmas. Saturday we hike as a family or bike the trail. But we STAY AWAY from the stores.

I hope Sears is not counting on holiday sales to save them.

  1. That would be a great idea except last year we had around 20 customers the whole day. Most customers want to see electronics (which we are getting out of), sporting goods and other good deals. SHC's idea of a good deal is to take something that is $49.99 and make it 48.98. No one will make a trip to save less than two dollars. We had so many complaint last year of not having things in stock and when we told them to order online the shipping cost made a purchase impossible. Charging $40 shipping on a $60 items is crazy. Way to "WOW" the customer, sorry member.

I think SHC has made it perfectly clear they couldn't care less about associates and their families especially when it comes to this topic. They have all but made it impossible for associates, especially store level management to spend any time with their families around the Thanksgiving Holiday.

4th quarter is a very important time of year and while nothing has been announced yet, we should all be prepared to stay competitive with the other retailers. Thanksgiving Day, while we understand is traditionally viewed as a holiday, has been pivotal to sales and keeping us afloat. Look at it this way, if all the other stores are closed then that is a perfect opportunity for us to really Wow! new members who have to visit our store to get their Black Friday shopping done. Its a win-win really.
