Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I miss Denny Strigl who was the best qualified CEO to run the show for wireless.

Focus on the customer NOT shareholder value. Core values and the credo written by Denny are even more relevant in a saturated market. Network and customer experience sets a carrier a part. As a former Verizon employee for 22 years I was so fortunate to be a part of a culture focused on the customer, that empowered sales and customer service reps. with the ability to take care of the customer. A culture you would take genuine pride in. A culture where you didn't want to let your team down because loyalty meant everything. We dominated the market in terms of network, market share and customer experience as measured by JD Power. Once VZ started focusing internally on shareholder value and not externally on the customer, T-Mobile changed the game and VZ has been reacting ever since. VZ leadership is no longer strategic or focused on the customer, but looking for the quick fix through poor acquisitions and employee layoffs to hit quarterly projections set by Wall St. Short term thinking so that the executive leadership can build there retirement accounts while running the company, employee morale and it's culture, once Verizon's biggest competitive advantage into the ground.

Use to work for VZ until last year but I agree. Loved working for VZ when he was in charge. This Lowell McAhole is a real money hungry 2 timing selfish piece of crap. As for the newer guys I'm assuming the same since all these "layoffs" are to make the company more profitable. When is Verizon going to realize that the 65,000 plus employees are the ones who really built the company to what it is. Not a dozen people in suits in Basking Ridge, NJ. What a shame. I empathize with you and hope all is well with the people affected by this. Good luck I still have a lot of friends that work VZ.

Okay. Even he would struggle is this new age of marker saturation. The golden age of growth is gone forever. Verizon has $hit on too many people. Time to pay the piper...
