This is happening in different channels. They offer a letter you can sign to volunteer to be surplused. It's not guaranteed that if you volunteer you will be picked for surplus, but it makes it feel easier ton surplus employees who offer.

It's true, conference call yesterday & email out today looking for volunteers to take severance - amount only speculation. Volunteer list closes in a week, forced cuts by the end if the month. 60 days stay on for those from direct tv volunteering to leave to look for a job inside At&t.
Information is 100% accurate. Many groups are receiving the email to volunteer to leave involuntarily.
This is not usually how they do it, but it is the way they are doing it this time.
an email asking you if you are Interested in Leaving (IIL) is not the same as being surplussed. It means you are in an affected work group (AWG) that will be potentially downsizing.

Layoffs eg mobility care announced i agree asking for volunteets first will know via email today i was told in same meeting today..!!!!

This information is not accurate. Surplussed employees to be notified by end of October, any they don't do it via email.
