Some contractors have better ideas than the complacent blue badges in my team but our management is too proud to accept it.

I've been here for a year from an acquisition and I have to say....it's downright exhausting to be here.
...Muchless trying to stay informed about any direction.
I feel like cisco oldtimers singlehandedly killed the product cisco acquired.
Just amazing.
When I joined them via acquisition in 2001 it was expected that the SE force would challenge bad ideas, policies and product direction. These days not so much.
Companies that are innovating and want to stay relevant and competitive do want employees who challenge ideas and policies. I agree with kk and ouf and can only assume Cisco is choosing managed decline over reinvention. Pathetic given our financials.
Name me one large corporation where "challenging ideas and policies" is welcome. Right, right, there is not a single one.
Cisco runs a top down culture. Those in the chain of command are hired to execute the tasks were given by the very top. The responsibility of thinking and creating smart ideas is not part of the job description of the rank and file but belongs to the outside consultants. Since the consultants have determined that Cisco turn over rate is too low and the cost structure is too high, so the chain of command is told to carry out annual layoffs to get rid of old employees and hire cheaper Indians.
This is true for the ones who speak openly in team meetings.
