As sales drop from LY, watch for those layoffs in Sept. Can't save Follett.

Burn baby burn
Last week of rush and hours cut already, not looting too good
Not caring as much anymore, no matter what we do sales are bad, not making money for hours put in. Just biding my time.
Cut more. Get less from who remains. It's always going to end badly if you keep using that formula. Especially if you keep preserving all of these VPs and above at the expense of your core contributors. The ideas will be plentiful but the hard work simply won't get done to make anything actually happen.
Oh and happy Monday.
This company is so top heavy it's ridiculous....successful companies flatten the organization, and they don't continue to pay executives who are completely unavailable ...., don't add value, and rule by information fed to them by other people and nothing created by them. That's what happened when you sit on your a-- year after year and get raises for doing nothing.
Nothing like using fear to make a team productive and keep Moral up. RG made it clear in his quarterly message that they will be quick to cut expenses if profit is down. In my opinion, no one below the VP level is safe. It's a shame that it is not realized that it's not in the execution...it's in the direction. If the company is down and your division is profitable, you could be gone just because you are too expensive to keep around. They will hire someone for half the pay or put your responsibilities onto someone else. American business practices at its best.
No promotions unless you become a VP?
Exactly how many VP's and SVP's does Follett have?
Very little hiring going on, and practically no promotions. You hire for some positions because you still have a business to run.
Layoff the longer tenured EXPERIENCED employees making the most money (and probably most likely to complain because they see this s--tshow for what it is but want to make it better) and replace with less expensive but OBLIVIOUS new hires with zero loyalty.
If they are laying people off then why are they also hiring?
It is not spreading fear. It is discussing reality. Everyone should be prepared. RG was clear last year at the last layoffs. Expense declines will match revenue declines. Putting your head in the sand and ignoring the current results will not do you any good. Work hard, contribute some new strategies to help move Follett forward, but also keep your resume and options open.
No need to spread fear, it permeates the hallowed halls of Follett HO and beyond.
The fear is real. We need to come up with innovation and fast if we are going to reverse course. Regarding layoffs, they will take action as soon as possible to make the bottom line. The sooner the layoffs, the sooner the savings start. When Follett was growing we added employees, managers, directors, vp's. The opposite is also true.
Well if the recent email is any indication, there will be layoffs in FY17. Not necessarily september.
Best course of action...stay loyal to hard work, and don't rely on company loyalty. If you have and maintain good work ethic, you'll do alright, no matter what happens at Follett
Your trying to spread fear. Stop it. RG said things were looking good for aug and sept which are very important months for us. If he says things are good, there won't be no layoffs. And, who ever heard of layoffs in sept??
