Appeal?

Has anyone thought of appealing? We have until tomorrow, 7 business days after the news. But the thought of seeing my mgrs face makes me shudder. What happens when when you appeal?

Thank you for the response. I didn't bother with the appeal. I too gave my life and my program is very critical. So many people outside my group are shocked I got let go. I suppose I didn't play the politics and brown nose my boss. Onwards and upwards.

The COBC is meaningless. ER and HR decide your fate and they will never find in your favor. The process to appeal will cost you money and harm you emotionally and you'll be left still being made redundant.

We all know the LR is based on a popularity contest. That's why super star employees get cut and idiots remain. Why would you want to stay somewhere that doesn't want you?

I gave my life to that place. It's now a cesspool. Count your blessings and get into a new job where you are valued

The 7 days is purely a Cisco process. Cisco will investigate then with most cases say no violation was found. The real purpose however is to collect evidence and get an early look at any potential legal actions. Never ever forget the investigation team's ONLY function is to protect Cisco. They are not there to to judge or enforce fairness, despite that they may want you to think otherwise. Even if you have a legitimate legal concern you are apt to hear no issue was found. They correctly assess that most will not pursue it with an attorney or the EEOC or the NLRB. Don't let this process stop you from pursuing your legal rights. Note however that by signing the papers you are giving up some of your rights.

Think about t this way: a company investigating itself is more than likely going to judge in the its own favor. I had a slam dunk appeal and was told that all processes were followed and I lost.

If you do appeal, do it based on violation of COBC and/or have written documentation of illegal/discriminatory behavior. The process takes months and you will be long gone by the time the investigation concludes. However, you could open a case just to see your management team squirm at the fact that they are being investigated. That's always a good time. Immature, maybe, but serves these people right.

What do you mean 7 days after notification to appeal? I did not see that in my packet.

I would use the energy rather for an age discrimination dispute...

Dude....stop it. This is an air-tight situation. The deck is stacked against you in EVERY way. Deal with it, except your fate and move on. Stop waisting your time.

I think it's highly unlikely to succeed. I am not doing it. Trying to ween myself off thelayoff.com and therefore break all ties with Cisco...
