Companies like BP should be given the cold shoulder by recent grads...do not trust their words. All they do is print false information to get you to work for them and at the blink of an eye drummed up excuses to get ride of you. Very often - they do not honor their words.

Use them and dispose them like toilet paper if this is your only choice.

That could technically be right - an approximate spill with an area of 2,500 square miles slightly smaller than Ireland with 27, 000 sq mi; or slightly larger than the state of West Virginia with 24,000 sq mi. What is ironic is the "technical precision on this statement" but Tony could not technically answered Congress's questions.

So glad to see the comments on this website. BP managers cannot look at you on the eyes because many of them know they are less qualified in terms of career and managerial experience than those they supervise. Most of them often cannot manage people because they cannot figure out what they need to manage.

I just came across this site. As a former BP employee of over 25 years, I can tell you that I also echo the sentiments: they ruined this company. They believed everything can be run in the same fashion without ever asking for input from people too small for them. They brag about building for the future, but in reality, they were only looking as far as the end of the quarter. I've been away for several months now and every night, I go to bed ever so thankful to be away from them. I worked my hardest when I was with them. But, it was obvious that in their minds, only those who have MBAs are truly worth keeping and can be placed anywhere within the company to do miracles.

Im a new grad Engineer with top grades from a top notch school, by the look at these oil giants employee/ex-Employees posts. I honestly don't even want to apply for work in the oil sector, i'm inspired to go put my skillset and sharpen in an industry that is more friendly to both humans and mother earth....the future is not oil, skrew it then! Above all, the sh--ty management build on relationships instead of competence is perfect ingredient to hinder a leaning path of a new professional.....(no BP for a big BOOOM!, no Shell for hell, No Conoco for ConocoShitlips) out of this loop for sure .....thank you folk for all the great career advices.

Come on, they run the company like they ran the empire.... Hang-on and watch it fall.

Wow, what a truthful write up and I could not agree more! Everything you have said is exactly what I experienced at Bp Corporate. I too am a grateful ex-Bp employee of 13 years that was part of the last round of cuts...thank GOD for answered prayers. I recently got a better job with another major (downstream this time) that, from my research, has their business together. Bp can't last much longer and I am grateful that I "escaped" while they still had a severance package. Good luck to you...glad to know someone that shared my thoughts exactly!
